I don't know if this is Altonia, but this was Alton's old railway.

There is quite a lot of information on it.

I liked the Railway, I'm sorry it had to go. Anyone know what happened to the Bouncing Bugs and Lava Lump?

To my knowledge The Bouncing Bugs served their "last season" in 2008 but operated in 2009 for The Alton Towers Christmas event. I don't believe they were removed for any particular reason but the reasons for their removal could include old age and decreasing popularity :)

I wasn't sure if AT still had them in storage or sold them. Had they stayed I am positive they would've gone to Cbeebies Land. They would have kept the name but the "Bugs" would be the yellow creatures that are the mascots for the TV Channel.

Then they would have been Bouncing Blobs.

Fried egg in the lake? or am I going mad!

I'd be grateful if anyone here can reassure me! I have memories of going on the skyride over a lake in the gardens and in the lake was a fried egg! Or it may have been a frying pan with a fried egg in it!

I am doubting my memory as no-one else I know remembers it!

:dizzy:

Am I right??!!!
Thank you!

Does anyone know why there's no fake blood on Nemesis anymore? It's baffled me on every visit.

I don't think there's any substantial reason for them not adding the dye, other than forgetting about it or that they simply can't be bothered too.

Well if that's the case, that's just depressing. Always added a nice extra touch.

I read a comment on the other forum saying the reason why the blood waterfalls aren't red anymore is because someone accidentally contaminated the external water supply with the red dye, so as a result Towers aren't allowed to use it anymore.

This could be hearsay and I'm taking it with a pinch of salt..

Well if that's the case (pinch of salt and all) then what an epic fail. #-o

Use of the red dye relies on the state of the local water table. When Nemesis' pools overflow, they drain directly into the surrounding land, and if the water table is high at the time it can become contaminated/polluted by it.

Of course that's only one explanation, and it's equally (if not more) likely to be accountable to Merlin's general lack of willing or enthusiasm for this sort of thing.

Plus the cost of it. Might not cost loads but it could be a few pennies Merlin are wanting to keep hold of ;)

Last time we went to Chessington what looked suspiciously like the carriage from gloomy wood was tucked away in the queue line for Vampire. They may have had there own but you could see the cut out in the back for you to pose for pictures like the one in gloomy wood and this one was in no place for a photo opportunity with it.
