Matt - yur it was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek. In fact all of my suggestions were (seriousness isn't one of my strong points), even though re reading it, i agree that the idea of the jets as rmt goes past does sound kinda fun.
Also, knowing that you have a 1 in 10 chance of something happening is often more exciting than something being a dead cert. You will get people (read chavs) repeatedly riding it in the hope of getting that blast, thus keeping them off nemesis

I think waterfalls inside the tunnel would be great. Make the tunnel more of a cave instead of a concrete mess. Other than that, this ride is amazing. Probably the best rapids ride in the UK.

Or perhaps a waterfall over the entrance which stops as your boat approaches!
Does the fog machine still get used inside the tunnel?

I've not noticed it for a while .... it should definatley be brought back as it's a nice cheap effect which looks great !

2. When the rmt goes through the tunnel a series of small fountains spurt water into the rapids section, drenching any passing boat.
I love this idea! That is perfect. It would add a cheeky edge to the already beautiful interaction between the two rides (or sets of riders should that be). Plus, it would be exciting as only about 1 in 10 boats (at a rough guess) go through the tunnel at the same time as the train. I'm imagining it, and visually it's brilliant too.
Get on it Alton!
So they'd spend considerable money on an old ride for something that only 1 in 10 CRR riders would even see? Unlikely. I'd much rather they add in some more subtle theming, some more tropical plants here and there.
One thing that would be nice is some subtle water jets here and there, nothing major that shoots up into the air, just lots of little bits here and there that gives a scaled down version of the feeling in Cariba - all these various little devices and pipes and sprayers that add to the overall effect of watery anarchy!
No. They wouldn't spend any money on this. Nor would they spend any sum of money on any of the hundreds of lovely little ideas that we enthusiasts idly chit chat about on a daily basis. But it's hardly a great stretch. All it would be, is a few of the 'subtle water jets' that you want, but triggered by some sort of simple sensor as the Mine Train enters the tunnel. It wasn't even my suggestion, but I assume Stretchy didn't mean have the jets spraying from the Train itself.

For some things there is no rational explanation. There is no way out. There is no happy ending to this story. Welcome to the unknown. Welcome to eternal darkness.

nope I meant from the track in a 'car driving over a tube of toothpaste' (kiddies don't do this as it has the tendency of upsetting old ladies especially when aimed at them. I know from persona experience) kind of way. The idea was to simulate a splashdown kind of splash only much less.It wasn't even my suggestion, but I assume Stretchy didn't mean have the jets spraying from the Train itself.

Have you forgot about the fact that every single rider on the Runaway Mine Train will see this effect?
Thats true! Young children would love to see the passing boats being soaked! It may also add to the popularity of the mine train!

i love the tunnel idea with the water, bit like how when the mine train at Disney goes near the water jets shots up bit like that.
Also have in the tunnel some looking exotic plants with colour full lights.
I can really see it working well.

Yeah thats a really good idea. Probably TOO good for towers.
It would make both rides a whole new experience - water jets and an exotic cave!

Yeh i love the CRR and extra tropical theming would be nice. Its not like some plants etc would cost too much and for people like us it would be something we appreciate.
Didnt there used to be some jungle sounds being played as you went round?
Or am i just getting confused with something else.

I don't think the Rapids need to soak riders, they have the Flume for that, the Rapids are meant to be a more relaxing ride than the Flume.
I think it could be made to get you wetter, and for a very small price, maybe that is part of the plans, but it is very easily done and could be done without anyone noticing, a couple of hoses here and there, and make the water faster so it splashes more, and it will improve what is already a decent ride no end.

I disagree to be honest. I don't think the Rapids is the more relaxing of the 2. The Flume , apart from the drops is just a slow boat ride round a forest, whereas the whole of CRR your trying to avoid getting wet! and your constantly going over fast-paced rough water.
I do agree though that the ride experience would be improved greatly with more effects

Yeh i personally think that the ride gets you wet enough as it is! I like the randomness of the ride that your never certain who and if you'll get wet. Just scenery alone in my opinion. The only thing i wouldnt mind would be a mist spray somewhere, would be refreshing on a summer day!

In its final year of operation, the Rapids ride at American Adventure has a row of water sprinklers fixed to the bridge which boats went under.
They were quite nice as they got everyone suitably wet but didn't pour water all over you like the waterfall effect on Rumba Rapids which gets you far too unpleasantly wet in my opinion.

I personally feel the ride is great as it is but misting the tunnel would add so much to the theming.

The Ride Needs to go faster and the rapids need to be moving more faster thats the only thing because you don't really get wet .

In my opinion the ride is fine. Sure you don't get that wet, but when your wearing jeans and Katanga Canyon is the second area to visit of the day, I don't want to walk around soaked through (An experiance I know all to well. Stormforce 10 at the back without a coat in september on a cold rainy day when the body drier has broken :P ). The only thing I would say is the tunnel needs something doing to it. Maybe some sprayers like in Splash Canyon. A little bit of themeing (Light and so on) would improve two rides in one go (RMT and CRR).
