Sorry to go on about this again but Shawn stated on his youtube video that the source is the same as the source who gave him the info on sealife!

Don't forget folks we are in recession, family values increase during times like this and what will they want to do? visit theme parks. Alton are very happy to take risks because their figures are already brilliant for this year compared to previous.

I concur with most other people here. Shawn wouldn't lie to us but would be lied to as an easy target (no offense mate).

I hope all 3 are true. A re-paint could be a bit of subliminal marketing I guess. 2 coasters- 1 year? Doubt it, but if they want Alton to be thier UK flagship park, they've gotta do something and this will do it. They've had a large profit this year, and with 2 coasters next year that will boost it even more.
Very interesting! Sounds almost too good to be true! :D I have reservations, but we do have to hand it to Shawn - he is a pretty reliable source in himself.

I'm just going to coast through the next few months with an open mind regarding next year until we have something concrete. Regarding budget though - this is the first major year for Alton Towers under Merlin... do we really have any idea of what budget they have?
Remember, Alton is owned by Dubai now. Building two rollercoasters and retheming another in the same year is the sort of crazy extravagant project Dubai is known for. If anything this is a bit underwhelming for something funded by Dubai!

Not anymore they aren't.

I'd rather they spent the money on a few flat rides in SW6-land than the Black Hole tent.

Are Merlin and Dubai one and the same? Are you misinformed or am I stupid?

Now the £14 million figure seems really low for what Shawn is speculating. I hope it's much bigger, as Merlin do have the money sloshing about in the coffers.

Disagree. The theme park staple is a coaster. The black hole tent has been lying there for ages. People need a reason to go to X Sector again. And it will also help keep queues down.

Merlin are part owned by Blackstone and DIC which as far as I know is Dubai Investment Cooperation.

Well thats a complete curve-ball isnt it.

For that reason alone im not 100% convinced, it isnt like Shaun to lie and he is normally right but it just doesnt fit :?
A B&M with only 2 sets of seats on the car, with a unique tilt/drop - theyve never done anything even remotely close to this. But Alton has always been B&Ms tester park for their new creations so it isnt impossible I suppose, it just makes me feel uncomfortable inside. :x

Rita repaint, meh no shocker and if its happening over the season it will get the public aware of the changes for next season - not a bad thing at all, and it gives us more pictures to fanwank over.
Heres hoping its renamed too!

Black Hole ride - its about time but thats another out-of-the blue announcement isnt it?! Also if its very similar to spinball it does beg the question why have 2 similar rides? But it does back up the rumour from last year that Spinball was going to be relocated in there, its a very similar story, almost to close to the real announcement (if it is real obviously).

It does seem slightly odd that alton would add two coasters in one season, however letst not forget 1992 we got RMT and the Haunted House together, so its not unheard of - just not happened for a long time.

I disagree. That tent has been sat there for years completely unused... its about time it got used tbh. The thought of a coaster going in there is just so good and i really hope it happens!

Seriously... new flats can wait, they can be plonked there anytime in a matter of days... This country NEEDS a good indoor dark ride coaster... all we have really is X:/NWO and a few others i haven't even heard of.

If its themed well, it will be absolutely orgasmic! :D

If it turns out to be a B&M I will be overjoyed in being proved right that they would be looking to Diversify and change what they do.

Still doubt it a bit though.

Aarg. So confusing, am I worng in saying that I belive Sandbrooke, I hope it's true and could this be the mystery planning application that we all saw earlier.

Oh, and I still don't belive Mr 2009 Jones, he probably just guessed and struck gold.

I'm so confused.

Yes, I was wrong. Dubai hold a stake in Merlin. I forgot that they did.

Apologies.

I feel that the park does not have enough flat rides, there is more to a theme park to rollercoasters. There needs to be a balance.

When SW6 opens there will be a lot of people in SW6-land going to ride rollercoasters with capacities which aren't the greatest.

I understand that the Black Hole tent needs sorting, I'm not saying that it doesn't. I want to see the new area done right and the more money spent, the better.

Going back to what Magical Ryan said a few pages back it's Alton's 30th Birthday next year, surley they would want to make this a massive celebration with a massive investiment into the park?

I will take this with a pinch of salt at the moment although it does seem to make sense and all fit together although Shawn did confuse me at some points in that video. I'd hope that all this is true as it all seems fantastic.

I agree that flats need to be added. Our best is slowly getting worse, but the main reason people come to themepark are the rollercoasters. I would love to see rides similar to slammer, samuri and vortex but investment wise, a coaster makes more sense. A flat can be placed at anytime at a relatively small cost. Invest whilst you can I say!

Well this is bloomin marvellous news. I was convinced that AT would spring another B&M on us. We have not seen a major investment in this park since Rita QoS 5 years ago. So quite why peeps find it hard to believe that AT could not afford another Major rollercoaster and a minor one to go in the BH tent in the same year I find staggering.

Anyway, I thought they sold the JetStar that was in the tent. So they would have made a small amount of money on that.
