It seems far more likely that this will take place over the course of 2 years. I would be inclined to believe that a B&M will open on Corkscrew's site and that the Rita re-theme will happen next year, but the Black hole Intmain coaster will wait till 2011.
Like Astrodan said, this would make far more sense from a marketing point of view and it would make sense for park image, because it sounds very much like one will be family, one will be thrill.
This occured in 2004/05 with Spinball then Rita. One year a family the next a thrill but it's unlikely they'd do both in one year. 2010 will be the year for the thrill seeker, 2011 the year of the family i reckon

Back on topic, I think Shawn or his source may have got mixed up with a mid-term development plan. A major new Secret Weapon this year and a smaller family-thrill coaster in 2011 to reinforce it is plausible and is a strategy proven time and again in the UK. Flamingoland (Velocity/Kumali), Thorpe (Colossus/Stealth), Alton (Spinball/Rita). A family-thrill in 2011 would also give the SW6 designers more flexibility to make it thrilling. This still doesn't explain the hardest to swallow part of his claims: the B&M. Sanbrooke and seanyboyuk should be made platinum members if that's true...

Two coasters in one season?...
What if the plan is to open all year round in 2010 as has been rumoured?
An Autumn / Winter opening of the new indoor coaster after Scarefest?

I do agree that for the resort to open year-round, then an indoor coaster would be pretty vital. Black Hole used to open for Winter Weekends until March 2005. Indoor coasters are a staple at many parks (Europa Park, Efteling, Disneyland Paris, Phantasialand all have them)!

However, it is for this reason that I believe the idea of building two coasters would be excessive and impractical. The only smither of possibility for me would be to see SW6 open in March and a second coaster in July, for the start of the school holidays. Aside from that, I cannot see why Alton would waste two major marketing opportunities in on one basket.
I am highly skeptical of the idea of the park constructing two coasters and even if they did I am not sure it would make business sense (2010 AND 2011 would be better). Also, the B&M claim to me also sounds odd as B&M don't make such short coasters! The Rita claim is more credible.
That's not to say it's not exciting, just let your mind indulge for a moment and it's quite amazing.[/quote]
Unless, as i've already mentioned, something could happen in the not to distant future that would restrict them from building on that site again. I don't know the ins and outs of all of AT's planning guidlines but as it stands i'm pretty confident that AT would not need to apply to build something new within the tent structure. It's also not beyond the realms of possibility, in the current complaint ridden climate, that such planning laws could be removed. If that's the case, fast tracking a new ride into the tent before those laws can change, would be the in the best interest of the park regardless of marketing for 2010! This is pure conjecture but it would perfectly explain the reasoning behind the rumour.

Dear Mr. Heap,
Please be informed that, as a matter of principle, we cannot answer such an inquiry.
So we can neither confirm nor deny any involvement. You unfortunately have to wait until next year, when the secret will be disclosed.
Yours sincerely

This is an email I recieved back from Mack Rides today.
As you have all seen I had an email back from Vekoma who said it wasn't a Vekoma Rides coaster.
Mack said they can't reveal anything about wether they have or haven't surely if they had NO involvement what so ever then they wouldn't bother about saying NO?
Surely if they aint involved with Alton on something then they wouldn't need to keep anything a secret?

Depends. The flip side is...
If Alton have politely asked the major ride manufacturers to neither deny or confirm involvement in SW6 I'm sure the manufacturers would play ball. Alton is a future client of theirs so they'd want to keep them sweet.
Even if Alton Towers haven't asked them to keep schtum and Mack aren't creating SW6 they may politically want to help Alton keep the secret, again, to score brownie points.

I have emailed
Vekoma : They deny any involvement
Mack: They refuse to confirm or deny any involvement.
B&M: No response yet
Premier: No response yet
Intamin: No response yet
Gerstlauer: No response yet
Maurer Söhne: No response yet.
Adsurah what I meant was that surely if the company had NO involvement what so ever they wouldn't refuse to comment.
Obviously I know if Alton was involved with a company on the project and asked them not to comment on it then the manufacturer would comply.
But if a manufacturer wasn't involved then what's stopping them commenting?
Anyway I will wait to see what other manufacturers respond to me.

I kept editing my post as I have a tendency to not explain myself very well!
I added this bit in, you may have missed it:

That email reply is odd, because they say that they can neither confirm nor deny involvement. They then go on to say you'll unfortunately have to wait until next year for the secret to be disclosed.
#1 Would they know it's a secret if they weren't involved?
#2 Why do they say unfortunately? I'm sure if they weren't involved they wouldn't be bothered if you had to wait until next year.
It's an odd email to say the least.

Possibly adsyrah! I see where you are coming from on that one, obviously if Mack show helpful in keeping this project as low key as possible with minimum infomation being released, Alton will know that if in the future they want another low key hidden project Mack will be trustworthy in keeping it quiet.
I do still believe that the project could lie with Intamin or Mack.
But saying that Mack only released a new coaster this season, so maybe not.
I agree Matt.C
I will print screen the email and upload it to photobucket for you lot to see x

Still confused!
Waiting for an offical park-press release though, and will be intrested to see the e-mail replies. So Vekoma has been drawn out, unless Shaun is right.
Oh, I hate secrets.

I see what you mean Adsyrah. Even if Mack have no involvement they have on many occasions worked with AT in the past and know the level of secrecy that they would want to uphold. Or she could be genuine and Mack will not answer any queries of that nature full stop.
Thanks to Adzy for the sig & av.

Well regardless of whether Mack are the manufacturer or not, Alton Towers may have considered them as a possible manufacturer for SW6, and therefore spoken to and had meetings with Mack about the project. I'd say that this is quite likely, and it would explain why they've said what they have in the e-mail, I mean they're not going to come out saying, "well actually, yes we have had meetings with management at Alton Towers..."

Or they could just be being polite... manners don't cost anything.
Personally I think it is Vekoma.

Well as stated, I recieved an email from Vekoma saying they have no involvement, surely if they did they wouldn't lie to people!
I think if they did they would use same approach as Mack did! We can not disclose any infomation of that nature!
I am 99% sure it won't be a Vekoma, but it did seem a little weird having two Towers fansites mentioned.
