I'm loving all this speculation, it's a good break from the 'which manufacturer will it be' debate. I cant decide wether I actually believe that any of these videos are 'official' but I'm not too bothered right now, it keeps the excitement going.
Cant wait for some proper construction to start.

Absolutely. I can't see it being too much longer before a large team move on in...! There's a hole appearing already where I would imagine the station is set to go.

Hopefully, come the end of May we'll see some real progress. It's going to be a very exciting time - all these videos, no matter if they're real or fake, simply add to the excitement of the project.

:)

I was on the park yesterday for my first trip of the season. Was strange walking into UG Land with no Corkscrew. But also nice to see the land cleared ready for construction to begin :)
Let's see if the new 'information pack' surfaces soon....

The last of these "information packs" was released at 8:30 on Saturday night so 48 hours from then will be 8:30 tonight.

I hope that if this is a genuine campaign (and I think this is the only one that is anywhere near plausible really...) they recognise that we are enthusiasts and instead of just doing "in-character" trailers and poems ect, they be straight with us that this is a marketing campaign and give us more information about the actual ride, the manufacturer and other technical details. Tonight will be interesting, let's see how it unfolds :)

I've recently contacted Rachael Lockitt who is the PR manager at Alton. She has told that that this project is called Secret Weapon 6 so that has given me more hope and I was told that there will be a press release nearer the time of launch.

It'll be interesting to see what 'Information Pack 2' will involve. I'm more keen on the nightwatchman story or maby all these will link together in some crazy way.

It is becoming a bit of a Mr 2009 Jones statement though, Jlton. :P

Anyway, the make & break chances are tonight, should be *ahem* intresting.

I know everybody's all excited about the new ride, and the information packs, but has anyone had a thought about the name?

The main rumours have been about a tilting/robo-arm based in a castle, but I can't think of any names :s
Confirmed \'09:

Alton Towers, April 7th
Thorpe Park, Summer
Alton Towers, Scarefest

Unconfirmed \'09:

Wicksteed Park (D:)
Chessington, WoA

Maude De Neville uploaded the video at around 7 the other day even thought it was posted until half 8.
The poster said it will be around the same time today.

A new video might not be posted. All we know is that a new Information Pack will be released.

I'm actually surprised that the PR department made a comment, I'd think they would say nothing. (Not doubting you Jlton)
I'm just as surprised that nobody else thought about e-mailing them until now. :P

I always find names that people come up with to be a bit rubbish.

I wasn't expecting them to say anything either, that's why I never bothered e-mailing them before. It just occured to me yestereday that I might aswell try and see if I get anything.

Interesting to see that it IS Secret Weapon 6, although that is pretty meaningless, just a historic title, but if nothing else it adds strength to the Maude video which calls the ride a weapon, but then again it says Rita is as well.
Less than 3 hours to go before the information pack, I am very interested to see what happens, even if it's just all a well made bluff, but something tells me this one is not.

I agree with you. The first video was believeable, even if it isn't true, so this one will be cool.

The SW tag is historic but now that it's confirmed we know were in for a treat and this isn't going to be a bog standard Spinball or Rita, not that I'm saying their bad rides.

And 'Oli_sleven' it hasn't been built yet so I wouldn't go asuming that the ride will not be up to scratch. For all we know this could be the best coaster ever, remember 'don't judge a book by it's cover'.
This coaster looks... Well... Not up to scratch, it was ment to beat nemesis, but from the plans it has no inversions, no rediculous speeds, no stupidly high drops, nothing. :x ARGHH I HOPE THEY MAKE IT BETTER :x
Just because it doesn't have any inversions doesn't mean it won't be good. Often airtime can be a lot more satifying than going upsidedown.

Yeah definitely. To be honest I would much rather go on a coaster with airtime and dips with good strong Gs because I find it much more enjoyable than going upsidedown. I'm laughing from start to finish on rides like Grande National and Big Dipper.

If rumours are true and John wardley is working on SW6 then i dont have a doubt in my mind that it won't be a good coaster.

Personally i think all the AT coasters he's worked on have been masterpieces.

John Wardley is working on SW6 and has a close connection with Merlin and Alton for some key projects for the next few years.

Wardley has worked on Nemesis, Air, Oblivion, Runaway Mine Train, Spinball Whizzer and Rita - Queen of Speed, in different capacities.

Even if it's probably not always JW's fault (due to tight purse strings in the latter days of Tussauds), I wouldnt' class all of them as masterpieces. Oblivion and Nemesis are excellent, but the money just wasn't there to finish off Air and Rita was a quick-job for Tussauds who demanded a coaster be built for the '05 season. As for Spinball, this ride also carries regrets for the park for several reasons.

However, JW is a great person to be involved and, if, as I presume, SW6 will be a less expensive coaster to one of the big B&M's, the experience and theming, rather like Saw, will be more in the forefront of any developments.
