The second one is just thunder looper, the ex alton ride, except it looks like Lady Penelope owns it.

Made by the lesser known Pax company who have sold a few coasters, all quite weird looking.
They're not launched but pulled up backwards and released.

Not quite... different manufacturer, vertical spikes and no launch...
The latter coaster is on RCT3 as "Sea Serpent Ride" if I remember rightly...

Tower of Terror at Gold Reef City in South Africa!
http://www.rcdb.com/1481.htm?p=1986
It's a vertical drop coaster that was built into an abandoned mine shaft, using the shaft tower as a massive support.
Originally ran with LAP BARS! Apparently it can pull almost 6G (when it opens).
How about the Orphan Rocker in Australia?
http://www.rcdb.com/1870.htm?p=6434
It's been under construction for over ten year now! It's a mine train type coaster that goes around a park. One banked turn goes right out over a 700 foot cliff edge!
The trains have "swinging" cars. Imagine a real mine train, with the tipping hopper cars? That's what they're like. Unfortunately, the trains keep chucking their sand bag riders off the 700 foot cliff. The layout, baking, etc has been designed to take into account the swinging element of the trains. So they can't change the trains without replacing the entire track.
The owner has handled the project himself and is adamant that he's going to do it
I think those are the two most way out there coasters I know of

Ha! Good to know that the problem's not too major, then

Surely sandbags and real people are different and surely restraints can be added to stop people flying out lol

As suggested by Sam yesterday at goose fair, the toboggan line of coasters:

Those things are amazingly old. Apparently they go back to at LEAST 1973, and probably older! Yeah Gerstlauer, stick that vertical lift hill in your pipe and smoke it. :P
I'm guessing they it must have pretty much constant trim brakes all the way down. I saw one operating at the Riverside festival in Nottingham a few years ago, wasn't really in the mood to risk my life though.
Speaking of Pax, they have a new coaster "under construction" called Cobra at an unknown little Swiss park, Conny-Land. Like the one Kryn posted, it has a very strange "unreal" quality, and the track looks very serpintine.
Concept:
I think 'idiosyncratic' is the word that springs to mind.

The Orphan Rocker is probably the most fascinating coaster ever built, thanks for reminding me of it! And how appropriate, as this year is the 25th anniversary (a quater of a century) of the start of construction.
There's a short but very interesting article on the ride from three years ago. Basically the park owner's daughter she has ridden it 'hundreds' of times and it has always met safety regulations, just they've never opened it due to other projects getting in the way. Something smells fishy to me there...

I visited Scenic World where the Orphan Coaster is based in December 2007. I didn't realise at the time that it was still under construction, and had been for 20 odd years. I just thought it was something that had just recently been built and hadn't opened yet, as there was no mention of it in the leaflets. Shame, if I'd of known I would of gone and hunted down the cars which are still on the track. The Orphan Rocker is probably the most fascinating coaster ever built, thanks for reminding me of it! Wow! Thanks for that, i always wondered what this coaster was. I thought i had dreamed that i had rode this...
I went on this at a local fun fair and never saw another one after that. Really strange though, the cars were like actual little cars and the top pulled up/locked down. The lift hill was vertical in a very dark tube but i remember it was very fun. I want to ride this one again!
The only slightly strange coasters i can think of are at joyland in great yarmouth. First there's the snail ride where you sit in a snail and go down tiny drops and then there's the tub twist (tyrolean tubs) which i'm not sure is technically called a coaster as the cars are powered. It's basically like a spinning mug you sit in and it goes down a zig-zag track.

it's a kiddy Virginia Reel. they are both a bit of a gey area, I count them as coasters!

The snails are not classed as coasters, technically.
Joyland Gt. Yarmouth, ftw!

Well Great Yarmouth is known for it's exciting queer scene
These little things are quite strange, no operator. You get in, get someone else to shut the gate, push a button and off you go on a mini shuttle coaster!

First Drop issue 73, page 28 has an article about a coaster called R2000, somewhere in south france. It does not appear in RCDB, and seems to be unique. Imagen a Schwarzkopf Wildcat, with tri-rail track... two rails at the bottom and one on top!
I can't find any pictures of it on the web, and I know the ECC frown on people scanning their mag and putting it online. So you may just have to take my word on this. :P
