LEAVE CORKSCREW ALONE!!!
I MEAN IT !!

Corkie is a good ride in my opinion, it has a 1.2m height restriction and is perfect for younger peoples first "looping coaster." Corkie is as much a icon to Alton Towers as Nemesis, and is still a great ride to go on after lunch.

Also I don't think Alton Towers are thinking of getting rid of it anytime soon. Or why would they make Rita a worse coaster than it could of been, and spend all that extra time and money. To make it fit around corkie.

SHE LOST HER OLD TRAINS
SHE WAS GIVEN WRONG SIZED TRAINS-WHICH MADE HER HATED
SO LEAVE CORKSCREW ALONE
OR YOU WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH ME

:P
This is my last Comment or View of TTF. I\'ve had enough of all this geek stuff, Im not worrying about theming or story\'s or landscaping, smoothness or what a ride is like compared to another. To just enjoy the roller coasters as fun and adrenalin filled.

I found Flamingolands Corkscrew, way more rough than at Alton Towers. Probably just personal experience though.

AIRrider 30 Rides in a Row :joy: Sounds like an ace plan!

I've also made it my personal task to ride Corkscrew at least once everytime I go.

I heard one of the ride attendants on Nemmy chatting up some women and he actually said "Corkscrew is going at the end of this season". No joke. :(

Just because Alton may intend to remove the Corkscrew at the end of the season, doesn't necessarily mean they plan to replace it with anything straght away; ala, the Black Hole....

I would welcome the rides removal as I feel the area would benefit from having more open space, but I wouldn't be so enthusiastic about the park simply leaving the site as a scrubby wasteland.....

I doubt they would boast about the removal of a ride in their leaflet :P

Yes of course, I was thinking of the new ride that would replace it, but that probably won't be for a couple of years...

I'd be quite happy to see Corkscrew leave at the end of the season. I that that it would tidy the area up to be honest. It'd look a lot more like just a racing themed area!

No harm in removing items slowly either - if project 2010 is definitely happening in UgLand

This is intruiging news, if true , ofcourse.
I would have thought though Alton Towers would have the decentsy to keep it for it's 30th.

So much for 30 rides.

Yes, but ask yourself:

- Keep Corkscrew for the 30th
- Have a big new ride for the 30th.

The latter, clearly, is preferable for a big anniversary!

In 1980, Alton Towers opened its gates as a leisure park with the revolutionary new rollercoaster - Corkscrew. And now, to celebrate its 30th anniversary, Alton Towers once again brings in a major new attraction...

I suppose, but we wont be something big next year.

Perhaps they are trying to clear some space before the MEGA attraction in 2010.

Would corkscrew fit in the Black hole tent?
AstroDan

Not a chance. Corkscrew is 75' tall. Black Hole was just 44'!

It wouldn't surprise me if Corkscrew did go at the end of this season so that they can work on the site during 2009 for any new additions in 2010. If it doesn't go at the end of the season then I think it will close sometime during 2009 before the end of the season, if something major is happening for 2010 they need more than a closed season to work on it.
