Sky Flyer is MUCH worse than Tidal Wave... it's like being in a metal cage flung upside down a lot. Horrible.

To be honest I'm suprised that Flamingo Land aren't just chucking these old rides over to Pleasure Island and re-branding them as "new", like they did with Terroriser/Circulator/whatever the hell its called now .. i wonder where these will end up

Because Pleasure Island need to keep their own operating costs under control.
£350,000 can towards some quality theming.
Flamingo Land is the priority, not Pleasure Island.

It has been confirmed by Rideguide and RCDB that Flamingoland will be getting an 'El Loco' coaster for 2009.
The only one in existence at the moment is 'Steel Hawg' at Indiana Beach:
Certainly rubs Thorpes face in it with that drop
Looks like a fun coaster! Nice addition to the park I think!

So it's finally been announced then
I have known for quiet sometime and told a few people a couple of weeks back
As my source was correct about this I'm hoping the 2010 information he has given me is also true as it will be superb to have this ride in the UK.
I can't wait for the El Loco though I have been excited about this for a while as it is a ride I have been wanting to ride since Steel Hawg was built.

Theming is essential along with a decent name!
I just hope to god FL continue to theme there rides like they have done over the past few years. We've seen some fantastic fun theming in Flip Flop, Splash Battle and Kumali and Cliffhanger too. If left bare, it will look awful awful awful and stick out like a sore thumb. I also hate the support structure on this because it now also means that it will be harder to theme but hopefully FL can pull it off.
This hopefully will mark the end of Wild Mouse. That ride is hideous and the two rides are rather similar, hopefully they'll get a decent flat for 2010, especially some that have been rumoured.

Looks a fantastic ride. Very smooth, well paced and most importantly, fun!
It's gonna need some drastic theming though as you can't deny it's one of the ugliest coasters around. Failing that, just stick it in a building.
Quite ironic that Thorpe say SAW will have the steepest drop and then Flamingo Land announce this. Shortest record ever?

So much for that steepest drop record at thorpe then, gone before its even opened!
Seriously though, I NEED to get to flamingoland next year., and yes I have been saying that for two years.
Doesn't seem like they're leaving themselves much time to get it open by next season though.

If the information I have received is correct it will be built in the place where Tidal Wave is now, hence the selling off of the ride and 2010 project is going where Sky Flyer is now.

Eek. The coaster looks amazing as the layout goes... but hideous. That support system is vile! I love the way the cars seem to effortlessly navigate the course, though. Fab stuff.

I heard that too. I didn't actually mean one ride for another necessarily though Wayne. I meant that as that one takes the place of Tidal Wave, and then hopefully in a few seasons, we can see Wild Mouse go and see a better attraction in its place, the rides are rather similar.

Damn! I went to Flamingoland two years running, and hated the place. First year was the last year of Magnum Force and Bullet (loved both coasters though), next year was the year Kumali opened.
The park was poorly laid out, dull, lacked atmosphere and just didn't have that special spark and quirk I enjoy in a park.
We went again for a third time earlier this year and it was a fantastic day out. The coasters are all mediocre (and this one also looks mediocre), but the investments are paying off, the atmosphere and fun in the park is on the increase and it's just becoming more and more worth a trip each year.
This is a cheap, yet superb choice of filler ride. It's one of only two that will be out there, takes up little room and offers a very different ride experience to what most people expect (though I think the X-Cars and Eurofighters offer something very similar, it's still different to the typical sit down or suspended most of the GP have gotten used to).
So great addition as a stop gap before that woody comes in n 2010. 2010 is going to be a damn good year for those of us up North
