Isn't blivvy's track already filled with sand?
How would a bypass even help? if the bypass was full then you would just go down the existing road wouldn't you? That's one of the beauty's of 'public highway' !
Is there even room for one? It would cost a small-kings-ransom to build one too. more than ANY secret weapon, that's for sure.

I'm still trying to pinpoint the location of their house as we speak (and have been doing for the past hour or so), but assuming they are not lying and can hear tannoy messages and screams from Oblivion etc, I think that the house Sam highlights has to be a serious contender. Those sounds could not carry to the houses immediately adjacent to the main road entrance, surely?
I'm almost certain the house in that photo is owned by Alton Towers, if you look at google street view the gate into that property is lined by the parks boundary fencing and has had a concrete flower bed placed behind it to prevent cars passing through it.
Doesn't look a lived in property

That house is Bagshaw House, part of The Towers grounds, and used as offices now I believe. There once was an old woman (Mrs Bagshaw) there but she passed away and left some orphaned cats
Sounds like the start of a good ghost story. Please continue....Satch wrote: That house is Bagshaw House, part of The Towers grounds, and used as offices now I believe. There once was an old woman (Mrs Bagshaw) there but she passed away and left some orphaned cats
If they loose and that does happen It couldn't have happened to nicer people. Lets hope what go's around comes around and someone takes Churchill China through the courts. I can imagine the noise from their factory causes "untold misery" and "makes the ground shake"formula1fan wrote: I sincerely hope that this case fails, even though the financial implications for the Ropers will be severe.

I think this is ridiculous...
Look I live about 1 mile away from the Towers and every day I can hear Nemmy from my front garden, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest....

In my opinion the Ropers will never win this, just because there two people going against a massive company. And also if it was really a big problem I would of thought they would of tried to stop the planning application for sw7 from being confirmed, I mean if x-sector really was a big problem for people the planning application for sw7 wouldnt of been confirmed and would of been rejected. But because it wasn't it obviously shows that the area is causing no harm and all it is, is the Ropers being mardy and wanting to cause A fuss!
Sorry for the rant but that's my opinion and will always will be that the Ropers will never win against Alton/merlin

I've heard it mentioned before that she died on the exact day Oblivion opened. Clearly hogwash, but a good tale!DiogoJ42 wrote:Sounds like the start of a good ghost story. I thought the ropers were known here as to Voldemort , ie. "they who shall not be named"
These guys honestly sound like they are causing problems for the sake of problems. As people have said they barely live at their house in farley , nobody else seems to be making such a big deal about it and surely Alton has proposed to buy their house so they can kindly, excuse my french, bugger off. I've never been able to experience oblivion with the speakers due to them and really hope that they don't get to the point where nobody can experience SW7 simply because it's application will be denied.

I don't think the Ropers have a chance the staffordshire council won't want Alton Towers to be effected as that would effect the economy a lot in that area and think of all the people in the general public that would complain if Oblivion was to be closed.
Some say her face was half-eaten by the cats by the time they found herSam wrote:I've heard it mentioned before that she died on the exact day Oblivion opened. Well this all seems a bit silly considering SW7 has been approved. If there was such a serious issue surrounding the area, it would never have passed planning.
From what we know, it's clear that the Ropers are incredibly well off and own three properties! If the noise really was such an issue the house would have been sold by now. In my opinion this is just a hobby, a bit of fun for them. Not a serious case at all.
I also think that the reason they were given no protection against their finances in this was a warning from the judge - hinting that going through with this would cause serious financial hardship.

To be honest, I am really fed up of the Ropers.
I hope that one day they come to the park, ride on blivvy or nemmy, and really enjoy it- and see how hard it is not to scream! That will searve them right.
I wish they would just... go away they won't win, I'm sure.

What we need are the people who live near the Ropers factory, which runs 24/7, has expanded much to the demise of local people who have to face it every day, and put up with the noise it generates to attend court and mention just what bad neighbours the Ropers are.
The thing that worries me however is that lets face it, the Ropers, being old and close to death (hopefully) are not short of cash, and they will fight until the day they die now and plough all their money into this out of principle. You remember the picture of them in the paper, the most miserable unhappy old gits you could ever set your eyes on, and they wont give up without a fight on this.
Anyway, back to my point, the thing that worries me is that they will have some pretty good legal representation given their financial status, and obviously their legal representation must think they can win this case, and have advised the Ropers to press ahead and take it to the high court. I wouldnt be so quick to assume Alton Towers will win this one just because its part of a big company, and dont assume they will win just because Merlin are loaded. The law is the law at the end of the day, and it was found that Oblivion was too loud and certain noise level reports were "untrue" at the time of the planning application.
Obviously it would be an unfair ruling to tell Alton Towers to relocate - its been there longer than the Ropers, but they could close down Oblivion and have it dismantled.
Worrying times ahead - I hate old people like this, moaning about noise when their own factory produces more misery for people living around it. At least Alton Towers puts a smile on peoples faces. Then again, if the Ropers smiled, their faces would probably crack.
