Hey all,
Just a quick question, I did a search and couldn't find an answer so I thought I'd ask.
PortAventura fans out there do you know what happened to the live band that was part of the Polynesian show "Aloha Tahiti" & "Noche de fuego en tahiti".
I am a massive fan of both these shows. However I can't help noticing that the live band has gone and the music has shifted to a more "modern" type music. I last saw the show in 2011 and there was about 4 - 5 musicians that accompanied the dancers, there was also a "please respect our culture" audio before the dancing started, instead now we just get some advertising. I did a quick bit of internet searching and saw that 2012 had no band either.
The musicians hut just has covers over it now, yet the dances I recognize as being the same 10 that have always been.
I must admit I felt the show was not as good without the live band. I especially didn't like some of the music choices, I preferred the more authentic version (well as authentic as it can be in a Spanish theme park).
So what do you lot think? Budget cuts? Arguments? Creative differences?

Wow. I just looked on the internet and found a height for the accelerator.
It is (apparently) meant to be 465ft tall. That tops Kingda Ka!
Plus, this is definitely confirmed (the construction of the coaster I mean). And, if a Polercoaster is not built in time, it would be the tallest coaster in the world.
Plus, the speed is (apparently) set to be 160mph. Faster than Formula Rossa.
PA could bag 2 world records with this coaster, even if they are just for a short period of time...

I know construction of the first Ploar Coaster on I Drive has begun construction, so I wouldn't imagine it would be opened in time to hole the record for height.
However if that speed is anywhere near true then I'm sure it'll hold that record for a good decade. But that speed would actually slightly scare me and put me off :/

Does anyone know anything about Ferrari Land construction? I haven't heard any news about construction and the Portaventura website gives very few details about this. I can't seem to find any news on the internet regarding this, and this makes me wonder whether this will be completed by next year due to the size of the hotel and park etc.

The project was delayed and opening has been pushed back to late 2016 or 2017 and main construction is due to start on may 7th. The area is currently getting prepared for construction by removing trees and flattening the land down. There isn't much to see other than a dirty, dry and flat part of land as vertical construction hasn't begun yet.

The Intamin accelerator coaster has been stated to be the "acelerador vertical más alto y rápido de Europa". I don't know any Spanish but someone said it roughly translates to "Heights and fastest vertical accelerator in Europe", so its realistically expected to possibly reach between the 200ft-300ft but could possibly reach up to the 400ft mark as rumored before if that's what the height they want to go for, but I doubt that as there doesn't seem to be much room to fit a coaster that big in there, but no statistics have been released yet.
The site the park and hotel will be built on is in the southwestern side of the park, right next to where the Port Aventura hotel already is. Its built on part of the car park as well as a small woodland area. It will be separate from the rest of the park and will require a separate admission. Port Aventura also said that they are going to expand the park hotels as well.
There is also a massive "BCN World" city being built around Port Aventura and Ferrari Land which will feature hotels, casinos, entertainment complexes and shops.

Siralgenon on TS has confirmed the stats for the new Ferrari coaster.
siralgenon, post: 133241, member: 116 wrote:Ferrari Land: The First Stone Presentation
Today marks the placing of the first stone of Ferrari Land by Sebastian Vettel. Throughout today's press conference details of Ferrari Land are expected to emerge.
As you can see from the latest concept art, the accelerator no longer includes an air time hump and now looks similar to Top Thrill Dragster as opposed to Stealth. The drop towers are now to the side of the coaster and the main building features a similar roof to Ferrari World.
What's been released today so far?
- Europe's tallest and fastest rollercoaster: The accelerator coaster will reach a height of 112 metres (Europe's current tallest coaster Shambhala is 76 metres above ground level) and a speed of 180km/h.
- The Park will cover a surface area of 75,000 square metres.
- Ferrari Land will debut with eight attractions.
- The Park will include two drop towers between the height of those in SesamoAventura and Hurakan Condor.
- The new Park will also include a shopping, dining and entertainment district.
- The Parks themed areas will include Italy, Spain and a F1 Race Circuit.
- Ferrari Land's entrance plaza will be joined on to the current Plaza Aventura, the gateway to PortAventura Park and Costa Caribe Aquatic Park.
The original concept to compare:

Well I think the original looked better...
It's such a shame there will not be an airtime hill on the accelerator, and that the drops will not be on the support structure. That looked really good and saves space, and would of had 3 drop towers!
The building looks a lot better, but still disappointed.

The drop towers on the support structure would have caused wobbling like on kingda ka which means whilst the drop towers were in motion the coaster would be unable to launch. Resulting in the throughput being destroyed. Loss of the airtime hill is an odd one but if it means lap bars im all for it.

The reason Kingda Ka could not launch is because the head protection on the drops were classed as inadequate, meaning they couldn't launch KK incase anything fell from the car on the the drop towers. This is the fist I've heard of wobbling, and I'd imagine that severe modifications would have to be made to correct that. Do you have a source that you got that information from?sw7nutter wrote:The drop towers on the support structure would have caused wobbling like on kingda ka which means whilst the drop towers were in motion the coaster would be unable to launch.
