In recent times, I've come to look at the forum in more of a saddened way, I may not be a regular, but I do watch the forums, and I'm pretty regular to meets.
But where this is coming from is the large amount of disrespect a large majority of the forum seem to be giving the park, It may be because you 'love' the park and don't want to see it go downhill, but to me, it's becoming ridiculous.
I feel depressed, upset and disheartened from the comments on the forum, I feel that a few members are also taking this Merlin Hatred way too far, the fact is that Merlin can do great things, The Swarm portrays that, and I know a few of you Merlin haters love The Swarm.
I just think it's time I left the forums for my own personal gain, You'll inevitably still see me around Towers, and I'll be on a few meets, it's just my forum time has expired and Towers Times Forum has nothing more to offer me.
Not to say that the Members don't, I still love you all.
So, Adieu and it's been a pleasure guys! Enjoy the rest of your day at the Alton Towers Resort!
I couldn't think of a better topic name.

There are extreme views by a small group of people but the mood of the forum is dictated by the quality the park offers and with recent events that has been poor. However if the forum isnt for you then ta ta all the best
Its always sad to see members go but I understand your reasons for going. I have picked up on what you have said about the forum.

I respect your reasons for leaving, they're greatly understandable even if I'm far from the point at which I myself would consider leaving these forums. The level of negativity is almost unreal amongst members of this forum, some justified, but some can be described in few terms other than blind hatred and, on occasion, seemingly the will for Alton Towers or Merlin to do something wrong, so that they can pounce upon it.
It's unfortunate that such issues have caused you to leave however, and indeed it's a voice of positivity lost, which is certainly a bad thing. If a significant number of the remaining members who're generally positive towards the park were to leave, conversations and debates would become not existent. The same is true, in fact, of the 'glass half empty' members. It's a forum, and diversity is required for it to 'work'.
Nonetheless, I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way, adiós!

Given that I'm undoubtedly one of these so-called Merlin haters, I have to say that you need to try and not be so sensitive to criticism.
The nit-picking or whatever you want to call it comes from people who are passionate about the park and often can remember what it has achieved in the past under different owners.
Nothing you see on a message board should upset you, we're all here for the same interest at the end of the day.

Oh god, another look-at-me "I'M LEAVING!" topic that'll look silly when you inevitably crawl back in several months anyway.
We've had so many of these, can't we just merge them all into one "Dramatic Exits 2012" topic?

Honestly Tuggers, really?
As default spoksman for the "M£rlin haters" I feel obliged to point out that we all get pissed off with this forum occasionaly, if not for the same reasons. If you want to leave, fair enough. But there really is no need for the melodrama... we have enough of that as it is
Also, I can't help but think the real reason is that with your new job, you can't really speak openly about Towers online?

You work at Alton Towers.
Posting and working there don't always go hand in hand. I worked there in 2007 for a period, and my posting dropped sharply.
As for your reasons, if Alton stopped making errors, then the forum would be full of happiness. But it has been one thing to the next the past 12 months. And many of us have been fans of Alton for a long, long time.

I knew I should have gone with my gut feeling when I saw this instead of trying to be nice. Posts of this nature are just a cry out for attention. If you have issues within the realm of a message board then you really DO need to retire from them and experience real life more.

I'm sure the choice you have made will be the right one. Haters gonna' hate I guess. Although I do agree It isn't pleasing to see constant Merlin bashing. But overall we are a speculative forum and we will always have this other side.
I wish you all the best for the future.

I feel the need to explain myself further,
My post was not designed as an Attention Seeking post, more of a way to say my views, I fully understand that this is a diverse communication form, after all, it is on the internet.
My choice is also not to do with my Job, I may work for Merlin, but that in no way means that I am tied to them by a short string, I know what I can and cannot post, in my best interests, it is better for me to not say anything than express myself, but as a lot of you are aware, I do still carry the best interests of Merlin and Alton Towers with me, I happen to have a far more positive outlook on the management scheme there than others however.
The way I see it is that the forum has changed, maybe it's me, either way, it's not how I once saw it, I don't blame anyone for it, and It's good to see a new change in management, and user content (Congratulations to Team Member James (most recent AFAI))
I want to stress that I'm leaving the forums, not Meet's or talking to you guys.
I just need to take a break from the enthusiast side of things and enjoy myself a bit more than being caught up in all of the discussion of 'Which park is better' or 'This has better themeing'.
In response to my Alt, yes, I created that for the reason that being a staff member, your view is never taken into account properly, the common view is "You have to say that" or "You're not paid to have an opinion" whereby, actually, I can have an opinion, I am afterall, an enthusiast and was an enthusiast before staff.
I think that covers most things.

With regards to that last post - were you having a competition with Blaze to see who can create the longest sentences with the most commas?
