I wouldn't get too excited over the date - the 7th March is a weekday, and Towers are most likely going to start their season on a Saturday as usual.

Perhaps the day could be used for previews, but again, that's a bit early on in March to be opening for main season.

I doubt it'll be 7th March, that'd be two weeks earlier than usual for Towers.

The season begins on Saturday, 24th March.

I think your clutching at straws with the code thing, if they were to have hidden anything it will be in the part of the static where there is a sudden noise and a voice pattern flashes accross the screen. But even then i would be sceptical you will find anything by slowing the video down.

Though maybe they are using codes, it would be good marketing, intriguing one enthusiasts must advertise the ride to at least 15 non-enthusiasts. Excite 100 geeks and at 1500 people will hear about it.

This is off-topic, kind of along the same lines you're mentioning here Dave, but I always thought it would be a good business idea to subsidise park merchandise to sell at minimal margins, just so that more people will buy it, which in turn generates great word-of-mouth promotion for the park. Same with on-ride photos, if the price was lower, then more people would buy ORPs, which would mean more people seeing them often on their kitchen table, in their office, on their desk etc, which would keep the park quite high in someone's attention.

Just to bring it back on-topic, I think that any sort of personal word-of-mouth promotion (like getting enthusiasts to rave about it to their friends) is probably the most effective form of raising product awareness. I hope the marketing for next year's ride develops into a bit of a viral campaign to capitalise on this. :)

its probably been said ages ago, however just came to me watching the clip.

i remember reading/watching somewhere about years ago there were tunnels that ran under the towers, and also catacoombs were there, and they were all closed up.
then some time later in the future people began clearing land, however someone was worried about discovering the entrance so all work was again halted.
ill try find the video now...
but just thought they could have idea from there but just link it to nemesis somehow

its included in this video, part 2...

I am now officially more hyped than at any point during Th13teens campaign and all it took was a few old videos and a new little animation. Which is a pity because the thought that just flashed through my head was "Mystery Castle crossed with Nemesis Catacombs". That would be my ultimate dark ride. Then reality hit...

But you know what, I’ve pretty much come to terms with the fact this new ride can’t rival MC or ToT. All I ask for now is for the story of Nemesis to be truly brought to life so that the general public can come to appreciate it like we do. Merlin has shown they are still capable in this area with Raptor. But if they muck this up I’ll lose all faith I have in them. This is it Merlin, this is your chance.

Also random fact: Anyone else noticed it was 9 years from Nemesis to Inferno and 9 more years to this. Not that I expect it means anything.

...does this all mean that towers has had planning permission granted? Or are they just reaalllyyy hoping it does? ;)

A slight bit in me thinks it will be called Catacombs?

So excited. Slow Nemesis theme FTW!

I have no life. Instead of being out doing something, I'm sat in trying to decipher a code from Alton's site. :P

Prety sure this Nemeis Omega One stuff is just because it sounds cool.

As exciting as all this is (i.e. very), let's not go down that route again...

I'd say they probably don't have planning permission but it's bound to be passed without a problem. Alton Towers already have pretty strong connections with the planning office and generally know what they can get away and can't. This attraction falls in an area which has previously been used for attractions, it's well below the tree line, and as it's enclosed noise levels would be well below the existing attractions on that side of the park.

There really aren't any justifiable reasons for the planning office to object.

Things are getting interesting now. I must say, the mini site is very impressive so far, and I think this development will be a huge success with the public. I just hope though that "Nemesis: What lies Beneath?" isn't the rides name and it's "sold" on it's own brand.

I am actually liking this. Something about Nemesis, seems to have a good background story so far. I do actually think someone within the park has actually been listening to what we would like and are making it come true. Im still a bit unsure of the ride type, but theme wise, this does look very promising! Kudos to the park!

Whilst I agree with the idea of remaining on the ground with this, at the same time - let's not all just wallow in depression and negativity. Otherwise this will just be a horrid place to be!

Towers are usually fairly sure when they will get planning permission, they work closely with the planning officers when they design rides.

And the Locals only really get excited if theres a rollercoaster in the offing, at the moment planning is still pending.

EDIT: What Haydn said :p
