Ok so on the monorail back to the station today there was a new speech being played advertising all sorts of stuff like thirteen and scarefest and...

My year has been made!
Yeh i'm quite chuffed too, it seemed to suggest that the fireworks will either be part of scarefest or just after as it announced them between announcing scarefest and the christmas celebrations.
Nice little surprise there for us all

Bloody excellent.
I hope they can afford to write "F*** OFF ALTON VILLAGE" in fireworks.
Do we think this is a one-off thing for the 30th year, or a new regular occurance?

To be quite honest, the timing feels right. 30 years, a new coaster, yeah, the timing's great.
Problems aside, Im excited. Plans could fall through, of course, but as of now, it's obviously going ahead.

Didn't one of the people 'in-the-know' mention a few weeks ago that Alton Towers want to keep momentum of the 30th birthday throughout the whole season?
What better way to end the 30th year with the return of the very popular firework displays and Scarefest.

The idea is that it should be a one off as far as I'm aware.

YAY! Goddammit, I might be at Sussex Uni when this happens. It may be worth a 4 hour journey up though.
And who knows Re: the future. If this event is popular and justifies the money spent, Firework Spectaculars might see a definite return!

I'm very excited about this. I would like to see it staged in the summer but it may be too much noise to have a late night display. I'd also still love to relive the cold damp days in October. Just for the memorys.
The park is sure to reach capacity on this date.

Incredible news! This should go down very well with the locals I know where my end of season is this year then!
Good one Alton

A reader has contacted us to advise that during his return to the car parks via the monorail this week, some re-recorded audio on the recently refurbished trains was heard. On his journey on the Mutiny Bay train, it was announced that fireworks would be making a welcome return.
The resort has not seen a fireworks event since Electric Towers at the end of the 2006 season, where a 3 night event was held instead of the traditional 5 nights seen prior to 2005. Due to a noise abatement order, in recent years Alton Towers has chosen to hold an annual “Scarefest” Halloween event in place of fireworks. Scarefest has been growing in popularity, and considering park posters this year already feature the event it is thought the fireworks are in addition to the park's now regular October event.
Details are still very sketchy at the moment, but stay tuned to TowersTimes News for updates as we get them. In the meantime feel free to visit our forum where we have a dedicated discussion topic for the 2010 fireworks and also our dedicated forum for 2010's headline attraction Th13teen and the new area The Dark Forest

I hope its a seperate event to scarefest tbh, scarefest is really starting to build momentum as a good replacement to the old fireworks.
Saying that i used to love the atmosphere of fireworks nights.
I think we will see the fireworks over the August bank holiday weekend (ie 3 nights) as a 30th Birthday Party for Alton.

The park is open for six days after Scarefest again like last year? So we may see a Adrenaline Week/bonfire night event!
If I am correct, Bonfire Night is a Friday this year? PARTAY!
