I think that's it.
I've seen pictures of track twisting like that, so it definately fits in.
Looks nice.

According to rcdb.com the ride is called ringracer. What an inventive name :|

The ride is in Germany, and the multi-lingual Germans use English a lot in their brands, slogans and names, it doesn't need to be uber-inventive as it's a different language, which is seen by a lot of other countries as genius in itself!

I didn't realise that it was going to go along the side of the pit straight of the race track, very impressive! It looks like those pictures are from March, so I'm guessing construction has come of a fair bit from then, so hopefully it will be able to open on July 11th! It's certainly going to be one of those coasters you want to go on, just for the speed!

^Same here...cept for late Sept/Early Oct for me. Best part about this ride will be the short que. Sure itll be long at first and on race days, but normal operating days, theres not that many visitors there. Can wait! :)

I really think we're underestimating this ride... to me it looks the most important ride that's been built in terms of the development of the rollercoaster for years!

Firstly, the massive technical achievement of just creating something that goes that fast. Secondly, hopefully it will spark off a trend for seeing rollercoasters built not in theme parks, but extending the experience of other visitor attractions. Thirdly, the way it interacts with the building like no other ride we've seen before - the Nurburgring itself becomes the ultimate bit of theming. Fourthly, that layout is absolutely insane, and so experimental! I know it's a cliche but we've never seen anything like it. Considering it goes faster than Kingda Ka, into that small of an overbank and hill?! That could either be extremely painful or absolutely incredible.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this ride ould quite easily make Mitch Hawker's top 10 next year, if not top 5. :)

Yes it really does look amazing.

But, you say it could be very painfull... It won't be beacuse if you watch the video animation of it you see that it gets upto full speed then slows right down whilst still on the launch track, before hitting the small overbank.

Watch the little speed dial in the bottom right corner and you see that as it hits the overbank it is infact only going at 45mph, but the lauch will still be amazing and make tha coster totally worth it!

hmmm i cant see it having any big hills or tight corners possibly just one huge oval circuit. it has to have a hill at some point to class it as a coaster right?
maybe the trains will have some type of wind sheild at the front to make it more aerodynamic and less intense on the riders?

There was a video on youtube, but looking at the plans its totally wrong

And serisouly, seen what date the German F1 GP is on...? The 12th July, that will be one seriosuly bsuy coaster if they get it done on time! I wonder if they will cahrge you a premium to race off at the same time as the F1 cars

It's not that revolutionary! It's not using technology that is new. It's just a fast launched coaster at a race track. There have been rides at F1 circuits before - the Far East springs to mind.

It might not be revolutionary, but it is going to be the worlds fastest rollercoaster. How anyone can overlook that, I don't know.

Yeah, the track isn't anythign to get excited about, but that speed is mind boggling!

Looks like Suzuka (Japan) with the Coaster in the background!
SAM93

Just to let you all know, testing has started!

Unfortunately the video does not show any of the launch, just as the train comes round the turn and back into the building.

However despite the fact that this is only going at around 1/3 to 1/4 of full speed, it still apears to be going rather fast!

Watching F1 right now and apparently Michael Schumacher is going to be the first person to ride it during the race today, at first i was pretty shocked at the fact that the fastest rollercoaster in the world is next to an F1 track but then i heard they are converting the area surrounding it into a themepark. So yeh they are showing the ride today

They didn't show any of the ride after the end of the face, just a pointless press conference with the winners. I would have thought they would at least have a quirky, one-minute segment at the end, with just a few clips.

Maybe the thing didn't actually open on time, I never saw it running though I guess it wouldn't actually during a race. The RCDb says it opened three days ago though. Can anyone clear this up? :?
AstroDan

I have gone through several German forums and nothing on the rides opening can be found, yet. However rumours have it that this ride pulls 6G.
