I think if the months delay during the planning process hadn't happened then SW6 would open at the start of 2010 season but with that delay I think it will be a summer 2010 opening.
What do you think?

They've got quite a lot of time so I think it could be open quite early on in the season.

I don't think the planning delay will have much effect on the construction to be honest, there's plenty of scope to make up lost time and there's probably a bit of give in the schedule to accommodate unforeseen problems which are likely to arise.

Sure I mean SAW did not have much going on until this time last year then it went up very quickly so I think we will see a spring opening of this ride. It is great, looking at these pics now, knowing in a year there will be a world class highly themed ride sitting there! :D

I don't think we'll see a great deal for a long time.

It will be a building site for at least a couple of months. Ground preparation is the most difficult, and critical part of construction.

Once the areas are cleared and levelled, then we'll see foundations go down (footers and whatever station building foundations are required). This will take a few weeks, and the cement needs to cure over a couple of weeks really (if I remember correctly).

I reckon it will be late in the season (maybe September) before we actually start to see any vertical construction. Once the ground works are down, vertical is very quick. It's a bit like building a K-Nex model (or Meccano if you're old enough). You just slot support a onto footer b. Then track piece d onto support a. It's a very fast process laying in track.

I think as the track goes down, the building shell will erect (primarily to cover "the secret"), but they may have to wait until the track is in before station build starts.

The next long job is the electronics, motors, brakes and finishing off. The station tidying up and queue line can all happen as the coaster is testing. Probably not see that until early next year (looking at construction of most rides this year).

So, I think we have a long haul wait of not a lot but diggers for a few months.
If you\'ve got a problem, stuff a worm in it!

I'm presuming I was the only member on park today so I took over 'SW6 watch' for today. Most of the day there were two men on site, one in the office and one doing something with hoses you can see in this photo. Later on in the day there were four men on site.

And I'm pretty sure I can see the celestial form of Anton Schwarzkopf in there as well!

Seems like things are getting ready to kick off on site. It's funny, cos previous SW's had all started construction by now. But then again, it doesn't look as though there needs to be as much excavation work as there has been in the past.
If you\'re reading this post it means I have emerged from my TTF cave during my annual forage for food.

I wouldn't get too excited over a 1ft hole in the ground that could be anything from the begining of a tunnel or a ditch which was left after removing some old features ect.
I don't think we will be seeing any track go up untill september/october or maybe the earlist about late july or early august or even scarefest as I see the station area and all of the area landwork being done so they can build the ride itself during closed seaosn where it can be easyier to build and keep secret like they did with oblivion. But hey they might give us a surprise and start early but look at manta at sea world thats nearly a month ahead of scheadule and they started at this time last year and look at it now, its a world class attraction with a huge aquarium display in the que and for non-riders so i dont think theres any need to painic as we dont have as large station to build or even the height and wind to build against.

He isn't.
When he said Robert Spieldiener, he mean't John Wardley.

Look here has anyone seen a photo of mr bolliger or mr Mabilard! none of of those men look like any of them as for john wardly, he is in the green fleece, he is there because he is the parks private ride designer, The man in the flourecent jacket is possibly the site manager as for this Robert Spieldiener I haven't seen him but if the speculations of a intamin are correct one of the two men possibly are him. The last one could quite possibly be from staffodshire county council to make sure thay are doing it to plan.
"The Marmalisation Process has been scientifically designed to ensure a sense of euphoria and satisfaction should be had by all... There are no, known, Long Term side effects to the Marmalisation process, however short term side effects may include: dizziness, vomiting, loss of balance, loss of limb control, feinting, wild hallucinations but most importantly Smiles!"
Kaycee

^^ kingda dude, kryn was joking when he gave that list of names. John Wardley isn't in the picture either.

John Wardley in the green fleece on the left-side? :^o
Are you serious?

John Wardley is thin-build and is partially bald:
http://www.john-wardley.demon.co.uk/

The guy in the florescent jacket is or must be part of the construction team/site manager. He is only person wearing the jacket, which is trade-mark of people in construction.

The guy who is really smart-looking and looks realy important (on the right-side) must be from managment. And the other two I don't know either from council or the coaster companies.

UPDATE:

I was wrong....John Wardley is in the picture AND my Dad's Hitler & my Mum's Shakira.
My hips don't lie!

Am i really slow in noticing that at the bottom of this page: http://www.john-wardley.demon.co.uk/ its states:

"His current projects include the creation of major new rides for Thorpe Park for 2009 and Alton Towers for 2010 as well as acting as consultant to Merlin Entertainments for the development of their other attractions."

Probably really slow but i haven't been paying attention sorry lol.
Dormiens-Dave

John Wardleys certainly at least creative consultant on SW6 he whas been seen on site last year apparently discussing plans. He seems to be back in the loop since Merlin took over
