Looking at the concept art and the name change, I think this could work quite well. The buildings are wimsical to match cloud cockoo land! As long as the buildings are painted in bright colours, it will look good! I do hope they make the rides they are keeping look more perminant, i.e frog hopper and carousel. Ug swingers look as tho it will look good with that make over.

From the concept art it looks like the new playground could have some foamball shooters like Berry Bish Bash.
Where the magic never ends.

Sure is, and look what happened there.
Why do people detest this name?!
It encapsulates exactly what Alton Towers hope to achieve with this refreshed area!

This would appear to be quite appropriate for a slightly crazy area such as this. Cred Street was a very dated name, lacked any form of coherence and the same can be said for its predecessors.an imaginary place where you say people are when they seem optimistically out of touch with reality

I could say because it's an awful name :P but then you could throw what you just said right back at me! It does fit in with it being crazy and that I'll agree, but the name just doesn't do it for me!

Cred Street didn't have any meaning for me whatsoever. What was it meant to be shortened or something? I had no clue. It was sort of plonked there!

I always saw it as this:
"Cred" as in "Street cred", is yet another buzzword from the late 90's used to describe something in vogue, ala "Fad" or "Trend". The obvious play is that Cred Street is a reversed "Street Cred, however I see more to it. Cred Street started when Nickelodeon, who were very much part of popular culture at the time, opened the ill fated Outta Control attraction. Following this came Barney, the Tweenies, Bob the Builder etc, all of which were very in vogue at the time they were on the street.
I may just be looking into it too much, but the fact all the shows were in "cred" with kids at the time probably explains the name Cred Street. I mean, after all, the branded telly franchises were the only things really drawing people to the area pre 2006, excluding Toyland Tours. It was the street containing the latest "Cred" in its theatre

I'm personally all for the general idea of Cloud Cuckoo Land (There's not alot else you can do with such a shambles of an area), but the name just makes me cringe; it sounds like a suggestion my mum would come up with...
I simply hope the area itself makes up for it....

Yeah, like your mum wouldn't have thought up "Adventureland" or "Gloomy Wood" either. Some of the names at AT, whilst I have no problem with them, aren't that inspired. At least this one's more unusual.

This is a quote from wikipedia. These are the first 2 sentences on the 'Cloud cuckoo land'
''Cloud Cuckoo Land refers to an unrealistically idealistic state where everything is perfect. ("You're living in Cloud-cuckoo-land.") It hints that the person referred to is naïve, unaware of reality or deranged in holding such an optimistic belief.''
HAHAHAHA

Perhaps its just symbolic of the current state of mind shared by the Alton Towers management? Maybe they plan to relocate the resorts offices here so that next time they come up some rediculous concept or idea the conversation will go a little something like...
Hello world. We're planning to open the Worlds first baby coaster!!

Are they living in Cloud Cuckoo Land?

Yes, we are. So whats your problem?
Or maybe thats thinking too much into it...
I do actually quite like the name and the concept, its fun, its quirky its what Alton Towers should be for kids.
But I do think it's a shame that the 'new area' is not too different from what was already there and I think this is probably what some people are more disapointed with, than they maybe are with the name.

Yeah. My mum always used to tell me I was living in cloud cookoo land, and still dose from time to time. :P
I personally think it is a fitting name, is quite memorable and I think children will like it. It also gives some good potential for some wacky and colourful theming which kids love, while fitting in with the Driving School and Charlie.

Also unlike Cred Street it is timeless so it has been around for a long time and will continue to do so and does not represent the 00's as Cred St represented the 90's
