Hello all,

Im after some advice/ tips! Im looking to go to the Winter Wonderland at Hyde park in December but have never really been into London so havnt a clue where to start!

I live near to Chester so i have the option of getting the train or driving, i need somewhere to stay for a couple of nights and want to pay a visit to the london eye & surrounding attractions!

I have been looking at the maps etc but the trains down there with the underground look so confusing!

So i guess im asking!

1 - is it worth driving down or getting the train
2 - where is the easiest place to stay? (Something like travelodge/holiday inn)
3 - best way of getting to hyde park / london eye

thanks in advance for any information :)

1. So I would definitely recommend probably taking the train to London as I know the drive from Chester is very long. The London underground is very easy to get around but if you have any specific questions, just DM me because I am a bit of a London enthusiast.
2. Staying in central London can be very convenient but also very expensive so perhaps consider staying somewhere slightly further out. For instance, I live in a zone 5 area for the tube map and I can go to WW in around 50 mins.
3. Best way in London to get around is to get an oyster card and use the London underground. You could in theory go to the merlin at attractions in the morning and then visit WW in the evening, very easily.

You can also pay the tube via contactless or Apple pay and you will only ever be charged tube costs up until you hit the travelcard price. Also WW is better to do when it first opens as longer ride cycles in the flats and less people

Thanks guys! Sorry im in scotland on holiday and signal is very scarce!

So in terms of somewhere to stay is somewhere watford ok or is there somewhere with better accessibility!

contactless / apple pay sounds good! Im presuming you can get to pretty much anywhere easily on the underground - just got to get my head round it haha!

Cheers Dom going when it opens sounds like a good plan!

Yeah its all very easy. If you plan on staying at WW until quite late try and plan to walk to a different tube station that is a bit further as Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch are usually rammed from about 4/5pm onwards because of WW. You can get pretty much anywhere in london with the tube and a bit of walking. I'd suggest downloading the underground app as that helps plan stations etc

I live fairly close to Watford and it's certainly close to London. Personally I would always prefer to use the Jubilee line as the Metropolitan line near Watford is quite slow and has few trains (midday on a weekday is every 15 mins). Just warning you, if you go to Watford, the station is not in the center of the area and is in fact quite a distance to the shopping distance and tube station. If you do go near Watford and have any questions, please be free to ask because I know the local area quite well. :)
