Hi there,

I think there have been previous topics about this so if there is i apologize.

I have been to theme parks for years and my last visit was Scarefest '16 and i haven't changed much in size.

For some reason i am now panicking about getting on the Rides at Alton Towers. I am 48" around my chest (I think i'm more wider which makes up the big size so thinner if i was side on if that makes sense) I'm a 38" waist. I had no problems before at theme parks but had one slight panic when i was on Oblivion and the one seat couldn't go down anymore after a few clicks leaving me with a gap in the Restraint on the ride. I've never had problems before but i'm worried now.

Can i get some insight on this please, even if it is to help anyone else who is concerned. Thank you

I'm not sure about my chest size but I'm a 36/38" waist and have never had any problems getting on any coaster.

Spinball can be a bit snug but no issues with any of the major rides.

I've never known to have any problems with the rides before. It's probably just the idea of that seat and it's got my worried. Like I've said, I'm not very big if I was stood side on but I'm broad and not so tall so I couldn't see the restraints being that bad. I've seen large people than me on the rides

Generally people struggle with chest size and height, rather than waist. From my experience based on your measurements then you should be okay.

It is worth noting that rides staff across the major UK Theme Parks are not allowed to use any force, no matter how light, to help your restraint meet the ride systems required position. The best advise I can offer should you be worried is to take your seat first and ask someone in your group to give you a shove before they secure their own restraint.

Thank you for this. I've never had any problems and visited multiple times In the past year. It was now mainly for anyone who is worried about this issue

I know this thread is a couple of weeks old but I thought I'd throw my 2 pence worth in.

My Chest size is 51 inches stomach is 53" stood up, I've never had any problem with any of the rides at AT due to my chest size and I was bigger the last time I went. The only ride that I've ever had to be squeezed into is AIR/galactica, due to the vest restraint. However the attendants generally give it an extra push, so a 48" chest should cause no problems.

The Rides at Thorpe are far more restrictive.

I'm around your size (last time I checked anyway) and I don't have any issues at Alton Towers. The only 'issue' I had was on Rita as a few seats have a shorter secondary seatbelt restraint thingy that others. I rode it back to back, first time was fine and the second time I didn't fit. They ended up bumping me to the front row that time and I was fine :)

How tall are you? I'm 1.93M (6 foot 4), on a few rides, Smiler and Nemesis especially, the OTSR is only a few CMs from my shoulders giving me some slight bruising after a few rides. Wearing a backpack was slightly painful for a few days!

I would say i'm around 5 foot 9. I've never had any trouble before with any of the rides but wanted to just ask for curiosity and for anyone else who is concerned.

Thank you though!

when you measure your chest, do you measure around your arms or just around your bust? My chest is 48" just around my bust and I'm very worried that you have to include your arms in the measuring
