Hey guys, weird combination but just wondered what is better? I understand for good rides Blackpool is the winner but for the whole experience I'd imagine Disney wins. Disney is so expensive though, its costing 2 people on Eurostar with 3 nights at Bay Club Hotel with 4 days in park £1012, is this reasonable?
Cheers guys
Andy

Absolutely, you don't get top class coasters like PMBO at Disney :P Disney don't do thrill either.DiogoJ42 wrote: Are you serious? :-k
Blackpool wins no contest.
Disney does not have to be expensive. There are often 30 or 40% off offers available. You also don't need to stay at Newport Bay, which is one of the more expensive options. But it is abroad, so travel costs are obviously going to be higher.
I prefer Disneyland Paris by a country mile. It's themed for starters.

It depends who you're going with. If you're going with young members of family then I would go Disneyland, But if you're going with older people, I'd say go to Blackpool

Disneyland is just all so phoney
But Disney just feels so fake. At Blackpool, all the fest you see is genuine grot, rot and grime!AstwoDan wrote:I prefer Disneyland Paris by a country mile. It's themed for starters.
Adventureland and Frontierland are absolutely stunning and feel anything but fake.
Disney is not simply about pink castles and tea parties.
Even with groups of older adults, I would still say Disney is the better place.
I can't even believe I am having this discussion - but perhaps I am over harsh on Blackpool? No. No. Definitely not. Disney is certainly better.

I'll take River Caves over It's a Small World any day. And ghost train over Phantom Mannor. And valhalla over PotC.

Even as a dedicated Pleasure Beach addict, I must say that i'd take Disneyland Paris everytime.
It doesn't have the seaside charm of Blackpool, but it does have the charm that only Disney's imagineers could create.

You would be best doing one day pleasure beach and one day doing Merlin attractions and perhaps Sandcastle Water Park.

Perhaps. But only because It's a Small World is so soul destroying.DiogoJ42 wrote:I'll take River Caves over It's a Small World any day.
Good God no. Are you actually insane? I mean, wow, that's quite some statement...DiogoJ42 wrote:And ghost train over Phantom Mannor.
:P
Again, no way, at least in my opinion. Know some rate Valhalla very highly, but still.DiogoJ42 wrote:And valhalla over PotC.
Not only do I stand by my words, but I shall add that I would take the now defunct Space Invader over Space Mountain.

Oh come on. :PDiogoJ42 wrote:And ghost train over Phantom Mannor.
Although Valhalla is the more thrilling, Pirates is sublime in Paris. The animatronics are brilliant. It is far better than its Florida cousin.
I prefer Fata Morgana to both, though.

Maybe so, but it doesn't have thwacking great hammers that almost crush you, does it? Or fire. Fire maketh any ride epic.

See, this I really don't get (I almost wonder if this is a running joke or something).AstroDan wrote:I prefer Fata Morgana to both, though.
I thought Fata Morgana was very good, but I wouldn't put it anywhere near PotC level, though, especially the first few scenes. Plus if I were to say that the station is dire, it'd be a massive understatement - the Guildford municipal bus station is less grotty. I really like how it had very separate scenes, separated by doors/curtains, and a few scenes were really impressive, but overall I would probably rate it a little below Batavia, and well below PotC.
I do wonder if in part it's because it was so massively, massively 'bigged up' by Sam before I rode, but still.
I just despair at the need to rank theme parks over each other, Pleasure Beach and Disney are completely different beasts with differing experiences and i enjoy them both immensely
They both (at the moment as neither one succeeded before) do the best they can do with what they have, that's my requirement for enjoying a theme park which is why i enjoyed Walygator or Light Water just as much as EP or Disney when i am at the actual park. Obviously there are massive quality differences but all i want is the best each individual park can achieve.
That's why i despair at Towers at the moment because they could be so much more than they are now!
