But, what we have been saying is...
The Black Hole Tent cannot be altered in any way because of tight planning permission rules. And there is no way Rita would fit in X Sector. It was designed to race around the edge and across the middle of Ug Land, which is large, flat, level ground. X Sector is on a big slope and much too small for anything along the lines of Rita. The Black Hole area would only be big enough to hold the queue! It would look absolutely stupid if there was a tent that big stuck in X Sector: it would strech right around to Submission; block off all views of Oblivion's break run and stall turn; and all rides/attractions/outlets in the area would have to be removed. It would look ugly.
It would also detract from Oblivion if there was a noisy, crowd pulling coaster right next to it. Rides have to be balanced, and the clash would be worse than it is now. The truth is nowhere is perfect for Rita, but X Sector is a no no. No matter how clever or imaginative an idea is, it has got to be realistic.
The Future of the Blackhole Tent
I was looking at the reviews topic and had an idea, how about moving Rita into X sector? Now before you start shaking your heads and giving bad rep, then consider this, of course the BH tent would have to be rebuilt and expanded, but Rita isn't too tall for the tent, and would fit in fine, maybe theme it towards escaping from Oblivion, and have flashing lights, smoke effects, and a video before the launch, which would be followed by a fake powercut, only to be launched into total darkness. I think that would be a great idea and would improve:
Rita's poor location and theming
The big, empty tent
Congestion in the Dark Forest
95% of TTF's opinions on the ride
X sector could be given a new life, like it desperately needs
So who thinks this would be a good idea?
Just please, no Morwenna marketing this time.
Not really enough room http://www.towerstimes.co.uk/history/ma ... bove09.jpg, near to a road, the toilets outside X - Sector and Oblivions banked turn, so good idea but now that Rita has been "themed" :giggle: ... I don't think it will happen.

Think of the expense of relocating Rita, which has already just been "themed" to escape from Thi3teen. Then, you'd have a void where Rita stands now - so you move the problem, rather than solving it?
I can understand parks relocating flat rides (come on bring Dynamo back!) but not large coasters.

Ive just had a thought! How about filling the BH hole tent with an attraction, it can be heavily themed to the sinister X Sector Theme. A collection Of RoboArms like the ones at Legoland Parks abroad. I thinks thats a really good idea. Anyone else agree? :
There were plans. No one knows if they still plan on doing it. The concept art said for 2010, and seemed to be a decision between RoboArms or a coaster, rather than having both.
One of the better ideas for the tent, but it depends how many arms would fit in.

I think I cam up with my final (for now idea). Put SOnic in there (as others have suggested) but with Tardis cars. Go for the who DR Who themeing. With the current them music playing in-car and surrounding some of the tracks with the vortices see on the opening credits with the lighting effects etc etc.
Why do I think this will work? Well 1 simple reason, you could make a fortune with an auction to ride next to Karen Gillan/Matt Smith depening on your preference
P.S spellchecker suggested I replace Tardis with Turds! Maybe thats what the forum software thinks of that idea.

As far as I know Sonic is too big and tall to fit in the tent, may be wrong, but I'm sure thats what I heard somewhere.

Heard many different stories regarding the future of the tent, its fair to say something is going to happen next year as they would of removed the tent by now, its probably gunna be a flat ride, rumours suggest a drop tower which sinks into the tent on its drop. Could be difficult with the height restrictions
My personal views is the tent will be re-tmemed along with the x sector and something will be added next year.

What a waste if it is.
I can't see it anyway - we know of the problems related to the noise from Oblivion - resulting in the loss of the "Don't look down" audio. And a drop tower causes most of it's noise from the screams as it starts to drop.
I'm convinced that tent has been kept for a reason - maybe something related to planning rules, or as something to use as a bargain tool. (eg as part of the development for Project xyz, we will remove the tent)
I guess it's also a low priority for Alton Towers, since they have been able to continue with other developments since the demise of the Black Hole. Maybe SW6 was originally destined to be there - the free fall drop would certainly have worked inside the tent. Obviously I am only speculating, but it could be that other factors in the design of the ride or problems with Corkie or other things of which I have no knowledge that caused it to be built where it has.

Was Just speaking to friend of mine today and he was hinting that the black hole tent will used for the re location of Spinball.
It was a very silly location for it in the first place and I think if it was re located to the x sector it would def bring the life back into that area.

The 10 year development plan hints at Spinball moving to what would be the new entrance and entertainment area which would be situated by where the Air carpark is now. At least that is what we were told by senior managers during the consultation days last year.
The idea of Spinball moving to the Black Hole tent has been suggested many times since 2005 and have been dismissed as it would'nt quite fit.

Well I think it's fair to say that this won't be happening for a number of reasons. Firstly Spinball has just been re-themed, and Towers will have a deal with Sega for a set number of years, which you've got to imagine will be at least 3 years. Secondly, I'm not even sure Spinball would fit into the BH tent, of course I can't be sure of this, but a quick look on Google maps does suggest it doesn't fit into the tent.
I'd much rather see a new ride in the tent anyway, there's potential for a decent compact coaster with a few inversions in my opinion. Though to be honest, I don't see anything happening with the tent until 2012 at the earliest, and possibly 2013 being the most likely year.

I want to know why people think it's a good idea to put a flat ride in there? How many dark flats do you know of? Apart from drop towers, mad houses and motion simulators? See my point?
Flat rides are meant to be spectators rides, they cover a small space and attract the most attention due to the fact you can see the ENTIRE ride. They repeat motions thus making the enclosed aspect completely pointless as you'll most likely know what's coming next.
This is why a compact coaster is needed! Coasters are allowed to be seen as vague and mysterious as it attracts more attention. Also the fact that you can't see the track makes it more exciting as you don't know where it will head next.
AT NEED to build a compact coaster... a GOOD one. I'm sick and tired of this country having utterly CRAP dark coasters.*COUGH* X:/NWO! *COUGH* Seeing as we now have merlin to create some pretty damn amazing theming, I don't see what's stopping them from creating a pretty good dark coaster.
It just baffles me! Anything that goes in there wouldn't need so much planning permission, nor would it matter about the noise it makes due to the fact its enclosed. Also, the Queue is already built and ready to go. All it needs is a bit of fixing inside and it's set!
I just don't understand. Five years is too long to leave such an ideal ride location untouched.

Agree, but on the ten year plan I don't think that the Black Hole tent was mentioned for a posible coaster site. Hopefully Merlin has decided to add one because it is rediculous that the tent is still empty. X-sector needs work done to it anyway and a new well themed coaster in the Black Hole tent would liven the area up again.

I know this is further off-topic, but would this mean Forbidden Valley being extended and Spinball becoming part of it?
Or would it be a separate area altogether?

No, it would be some sort of 'link' between park and resort. It is possible that Spinball would become a resort guest only ride. However, there was a large space behind Air marked for a new coaster, whoch would see the Forbidden Valley area expanded.
