What if the Lifts on the plans are the Drop Towers, you then drop down to the bottom where your find a 4D Cinema.
With the rumours around 4 drop-towers and the ride seemingly having 4 lifts, this would make a lot of sense. Especially since 11 metres isn't exactly a huge drop, having you drop while stood up would make a difference.

However, thinking logically, H&S probably wouldn't let that happen. I have enough trouble staying upright on Charlie - and that lift doesn't really go anywhere!

Could maybe see these lifts turned into "turbo lifts" where you're strapped in and then plummet towards the bottom of the excavation site. Imagine the dropship scene from 'Aliens' and you'll get the picture :D

So the lifts will move in the same way that the Great Glass Elevator does but have no video? Are they coming from the same manufacturer? If they're the same size, they seem slightly excessive for pre-batching of a 24-seater ride?

It's all very interesting and exciting though. I'm maintaining the leap of faith I made at the revelation of the plans that this will be decent.

Do we really need to use spoiler tags? Thought this thead was fine for open discussion.
I don't expect their additions to be Disney quality. I expect them to be Alton Towers quality. This is looking likely to be one of the cheapest and weakest ride systems from one of the cheapest manufacturers around. It's BARELY better than a froghopper. Even if Lightwater Valley added this, then I'd say it was beneath them. From any other park of similar size with three B&Ms or the equivalent, this would be hilariously laughable.
Are you being serious?!

Hex is hardly cutting-edge when it comes to technology. You're focusing *way* too much on the rumoured towers - they are merely *one* element to a much bigger ride experience. Your negativity over a ride which hasn't even started being built yet is amazing!

How can we be excited over the new ride being built when we don't even like whats being built?
Show me a good reason why alton should do this Nemesis themed ABC 4D Drop tower, because at the moment, most of the members on this topic, Hate it.

Well who's to say we're totally right about what's being built. In my opinion nothing's totally certian until Merlin announce it, so why the hate now?

It seemed to me that actually, quite alot of members are actually quite excited about this development, or at least open minded. If you really hate it that much, then why bother carrying on to read the posts?

The day members of TTF don't hate a ride at Alton Towers being paid for by Merlin before its even built is the day this place closes down.

The Hex comparison is good. 2000 was too long ago for many of you to be active online, and was probably before this age of internet leaks and spoilers anyway. Would anyone have been particularly impresse dif they'd found out it was a Vekoma Madhouse?

The theming, atmosphere, music, effects and environment are what make Hex so incredible. I know its placing within the Towers is unique and the experience is boosted by that, but this could be an equally impressive experience, even if the actual ride is four Extremis clones.

Wait a minute, didn't Charlie's lifts take up the bulk of it's budget? If we're getting 4 for this, there's no hope for immersive theming :(

1. Yes, they will simulate going underground.
2. I believe so.
3. No idea on how big they are! Can't imagine them being as big as Charlie though as they only need to hold 12.

A Vekoma Madhouse is an innovative concept made by a proper manufacturer with a huge scope for theming and immersive experience.

Four froghoppers from ABC are none of the above, due to the limitations of the ride system.

I think the budget will be in the region of £5 million for this project so try and retain some faith. Based on their previous efforts and failings (Thirteen's crypt for example), I can understand sceptisism, but there's always the hope that they've learned from their mistakes or that Candy Holland has managed to secure the budget she desires.

There is nothing at all innovative about Hex - it's a take on a classic Haunted Swing ride (IIRC Impossible in Blackpool is the oldest operating example of one). They've been around for decades.

You're writing off a ride before you know what it's about.

I'm by no means super excited about this new ride system, but I'm very excited by its potential due to the whole ride experience. And from the rumblings coming from Nathan (who seems to know his stuff) we're not just getting a simple drop tower.

I like that there's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding this new development. By this time last year, members had confidently sussed out Th13teen's big secret due to early construction well before the season was over. A massive hole in the ground clearly seen from the side and from Rita gave the game away. After that, all we had to speculate about was the level of theming and the drop mechanism itself which, to be honest, would have made little different to the final outcome.

It's nearly the end of the season now and there's still heated discussion one the type of flat ride. Once that's confirmed (and knowing TTF it will be soon!) then there's the whole mystery of story, theming, effects, cinematic elements, ride sequences, music etc, all of which we know nothing about, other than the Nemesis connection. I'm just saying it's nice not to know something for a change, and if Alton can keep this all under wraps until opening day I'll be impressed.

Something I didn't like about the Th13teen build up was Alton giving us behind the scenes peeks at construction and theming on a plate. It's not their job to do that, it's our job to dig. Their job is to build it up without leaking too much, maybe even with some misleading hints thrown in. I kept myself strictly to the 'No Spoilers' topic of TTF but by the time of opening there wasn't much to surprise me.

TTF will never be spoiler free (rightly so), I'm not asking that, but I'd like to be able to safely look at the Tower's website and mini-site for teasers, without seeing pictures of theming delivered and fitted or the ride bolted into place. So far so good, but if the N:WLB mini-site goes the same way as Th13teen's did...meh.

Clearly we do know whats the ride is about cause Nathan's been telling us :|
I don't see the problem with using spoilers, if you don't want to know, don't click the spoiler, whole point of the spoiler, is it not? :?

Did anyone else sign up to updates on the mini-site?
When do you think we'll get some news?

I do think people are jumping the gun a little though by completely writing it off.

If I were to describe Hex as a swing ride inside a rotating room, it wouldn't exactly sound like a great attraction either. Add all the bells and whistles though, and that relatively simple rides turns into a fantastic attraction.

What I've told you is nowhere near anything substantial enough to form an opinion on the ride.

Eurgh, yet again I look at the last page of this topic to find bitching about a ride that's not even started to be built yet.

Everyone seems to know better in this topic, any chance you could step back and appreciate for one second there's a new ride based on Nemesis being built instead of trying to out-do each other with retarded quibbles about knowing more than the previous poster.

Just bloody wait and see!! :x

This is ridiculous. The fact that everyone is already going up an arms for something that is not yet built yet is such a wonder to behold. Though I think that after the disappointing results of Th13teen, nobody is going to be all happy for such a ride even before the ride has been built up, and if this ride turns out to be a disaster (though hopefully not) then are we going to slag on any new future rides that come to Alton, unless it turns out either to be of the following:

1) A Cross Valley Woody
2) A giant B&M of some sort that somehow avoids the tree height
3) A World class Disney/EP Dark ride

I know that seems that 75% of users on here have already given up on this ride, and are in despair that next year will be another cock-up for the park, but in spite of what 'evidence' we have that this will be ABC drop tower rides, I'm willing to give this ride a chance.

I just don't want to jump on the bandwagon at this early stage. :|
