Outdoor activity centre for Alton Towers?

Got an idea of how the Alton Towers Resort may develop over the coming seasons? Discuss it here.

If you`ve ever been to centre parks, youl know some of the activities, such as jipwire, high wires, leap of faith, jacubs ladder, quod biking etc.

Now alton is a resort, and in a few years time, it will be even bigger, one of these would be great for the resort! It would keep people coming to stay at the hotels for longer. It wouldnt be too expensive either, at least it wouldnt cost as much as the possible entertainment complex.
Id love to hear some views on this :D

I think this sort of thing would go well alongside a camping ground or log cabins which AT have said they are planning to build over the coming decade. The Alton Towers Hotel has the Spa, Splash Landings has the Waterpark so the self catering style acommodation could work well with outdoor activities.

There is an outdoor activity centre in Alton just next to the Lord Shrewsbury Hotel; I don't know if its still open you will have to ask the castle. As for Alton Towers, I think it would be a good addition to hotels maybe next extoidinary golf. :D

I suppose this would be good but you have to think would it be used? I f there is a Waterpark, Spa, and golf would it be popular?

There was plans too add a zip-wire to the top of the Towers, i'm pretty sure they did actually install it, but unfortunately I didn't try it.

They didn't install it. From the second paragraph on the TowersTimes History page :-
The plan was eventually dropped, but here we can see the planned route of the wire.

It was briefly added for the Playstation weekend event in 2005, there's a few pics on TT here: http://old.towerstimes.co.uk/history/ev ... on2005.htm

The zip wire (Vertigo) was even added to the 2006 map when they didn't have any planning permission...

Quite a bit of a stupid thing to do. Would be like putting SW7 on the map next year when the planning permission is pending.

Or someone just needs to read :P
In 2006 Alton Towers hoped to install a zipwire, which ran from the roofs of the Towers to the lawns below, like the one which was temporarily installed for the Playstation Weekender in 2005
I'm glad this never became permanent. It just screams Blackpool Pleasure Beach! It would have been ruined the view of the Towers and would have rendered the lawn's unusable for events such as P!NK or the 2011 concerts.

Is the Dung Heap not good enough? ;)

I think if the resort are to push boundaries in the future - some sort of interactive adventure playground is needed, remember the Temple concepts?
