Thank you[/quote]Do you not think it's time to split the topic up a bit though? I mean theres more than one topic on Thorpe Park and Drayton, why should American Adventure be any different?

Those pictures of the RMT were when it had a decent colour scheme too!

I don't know if this has been said before, but I really don't have the time to read through 50 pages of posts.
When I was young, I used to love going to the American Adventure. It was always busy, bustling with people - I loved the showgirls in the saloon, the live horseback show, the motionmaster, nightmare niagra, the missile, rmt and the twin looper (and the sky coaster when it arrived later on). I used to love the new orleans area, with the band playing, the steamboat paddler, the hole-in-one golf challenge, the go karts. The place used to be, in my oppinion, almost as good as Alton. Infact - as someone else said, I prefer(ed) nightmare niagra and the aa rapids to Alton's equivalents.
Now they're aiming at "families" and younger children - I dispair. And why? The theme park where I work (Gullivers Kingdom, Matlock Bath) already specialises in families and children - AND seems to do a better job of it! People always comment on how friendly us staff are (we rarely get complaints on that front) and for just £8.50 (i think) we have, in my oppinion, a better selection of attractions.

Well theres a lot of good information in these 50 pages
Your right, If the park HAD got rides which where not suitable for the family then I we could all understand there actions but closing NN and the rapids (although these will be opened at a later date)
I recently went to Skeg and the Buttons selection of rides is now in my opinion is better than what AA have to offer!

Exactly, but the American Adventure wasn't just about the rides. It was about the wild west shows/showgirls, and the old entrance & shop area was great - that long undercover new-orleans mall style arcade is my fondest memory.
It all went downhill from when it was renamed American Adventure World. I remember going after it had changed names to AAW - and they were still using chip cartons that said AA on them - and then I went after it changed back to just AA and they were then using up the chip cartons that said AAW on them.
I don't get it though - they've got rid of NN, The Missile and Rapids but kept their most intense ride - the Sky Coaster!

I went into the park as a guest a few days ago. My 6 year old son loved it, we went at 2:30pm. A few people around but you could get on the rides straight away.
The only problem was that Vintage cars and Rio was being operated by the same guy, a guy who should really be sat at home in pipe and slippers. He was busy talking to somebody on the Rocket.
The park is missing good customer services, a nice smile a hello just anything but ride operators swearing in the background, come on AA, hire people that want to work there not just people that want a job!!
I have to admit now the motionmaster have a nice produced audio spiel it really works well, lights dipped and this intense spiel gave it a really good feel.

I was in the park today....what a great feeling the best day in a while. Lots of people and the vibe about the place was buzzing.
A special slapstick stunt show is now on every weekend and the Rocking Tug was running today. I've got to say that the theming for it is pretty good by AA's standards.
Blue pebbles on the ground the resemble water, a backdrop to the ride and traffic lights at the entrance like a light house style....very good.
SAD NEWS!!!!!!!!!
The start of the dismantling of Nightmare Niagara starts this Monday (20th June 2005)!!!!

Has nightmare niagra like moving parks or is it being completley destroyed. Sounds like AA have starting pulling the visitors back but after all it is summer. Since When did the park have a rocking tug? And has the yankee clipper got back yet?
Next trip to Lightwater valley = 29th october

Niagra is going for the scrap.
Rocking Tug came on-site 3 weeks ago and it ran today for the first time at 10am.
Yankee clipper is now on site next to it's old site, on the waterfront. It's been repainted but the holding towers etc are next to it. A few more weeks before it's up and running again though.

Admittedly Niagra is quite a bit bigger, but we (Gullivers Kingdom) have a log flume in our family park, and it fits in very well!

Where abouts has it been placed? They seemed unsure when it was first announced whether it would be on Snake Island or up by the mall.....Rocking Tug came on-site 3 weeks ago and it ran today for the first time at 10am.
Also, does it look like a permanent fixture or is it a travelling version?
I would say this looks very unlikely - if they were thinking along the lines of a smaller new flume then it would surely be easier to refurbish the smaller drops of the old ride than build new - even with new channel it would still be cheaper than a new ride system. But who knows? Anything seems possible!Well hopefully they will replace the log flume with a smaller version
Would it be possible for any of our 'locals' to keep an eye on flume removal from either within the park of from outside? I understand that with exams etc it might not be 1st priority at the moment but it will be the summer holidays soon!!

Colin,
I understand that the ride is actually (at least in parts) structurally unsafe, and at an educated guess I'd say there are problems with the foundations.
I'll take a look tommorow if possible .

Health and safety say that it is structualy unsafe and therefore it has been condemmed. Not only that, it was breaking down on an hourly basis. I'm sure that water and electrics over time become the death of it.
As for the Rocking Tug, it's in it's place at the end of the Mall, where the Helter Skelter used to be and nope it will not be moving. The theming has been put up and it's a hard job to remove it all.
Yankee Clipper is on site and will be put up a few yards down from where it used to be. It will now be next to JPJ (John Paul Jones) where the wooden food shack used to be.
