Couldn't find a recent topic on this so sorry if there is!
Having not visited Blackpool for quite a while we ventured there and I must say since I was young this place has changed alot and Blackpool in general.
We had a fantastic day.. but everything seemed run down or looking tired. Apart from the attractions that have had some TLC such as Valhalla, Nickelodeon Land, Revolution everything else just seemed really tired, peeling paint.
I went with some non enthusiasts and even they commented how old, and how everything looked. Most of all the word ''scruffy'was heard whilst on PMBO where you can see loads of random bits of themeing? I really do think it looks untidy for the parks image just having it all lying around.
I know the park dosnt have that much of a budget compared to some parks in the UK but surley people will pick up on these little things whilst on there day out?
Having knowing some of you guys have visited whats your view on this situation?

Blackpool can be hitty missy at the best of times. Truth is most UK parks appear to be a little run down at the moment, and BPB with it's weather and location, is always going to look a little more weathered than most. Either way it's looking loads better than four or five years ago, when we spotted a used condom in the Alice in Wonderland queue.

Got an invite this morning from Blackpool to a special Jubilee party on the evening on Monday 4th June. There will be a swing band and a DJ on, food provided and after-dark rides of the Wild Mouse, Grand National and River Caves. Tickets are £15, i'm not sure whether it is restricted to season pass holders or not?
I love the idea of a Jubilee event at a theme park.

As far the general situation goes with BPB, Parts of the time could do with a clean up/refurb, but a least a trying to give it a nice clean up and investing in the park. Valhalla and Revolution look nice and hopfully more rides will follow. I'm hoping Grand National and Big Dipper will be next. Spaces in the park could do with filling up like Trauma Towers and the Space Invaders buildings by placing some new rides. Does anyone who whats happening to the gold mine yet?
Yes, for one day only for the Jubilee Event! 8)ImURNemesis wrote:So these rides are looking to open after 10pm it beeing June? Big Dipper doesn't need any work done after the refurb of the ride in 2010. I agree that Grand National needs some work done to the ride and the station, trains are horrible atm. Yeah, I hope BPB does reconsider using those spaces again in the near future. A 4D Cinema was planned for Space Invader's area, but was scrapped due to a number of things, one being the Merlin's Blackpool Tower 4D Theater.
A Wallace & Gromit ride will be replacing Gold Mine in the 2013 season.

Acording to Blackpool it will open some time in May with no date given. But I'm sure it won't be too long now.Stelios7 wrote: Looking good, but does anyone know why the Revolution is STILL not open? I cannot see much work being needed to be done now and it's been too long. And as peak time approaches rapidly, they need to get a move on.

Officially confirmed on park:
Possible name "Thrill-O-Matic"?

YEY! Good for them.
Blackpool is such an odd park, but their Nickelodeon land has done so well, I am glad to see them using more IP's - especially one so British and odd/funny - they are an ideal match together.
I'm not a massive BPBPBPBBPBP fan, but this is another excellent decision - I really hope it works out. They certainly dont/cant compete with Merlin anymore so to see something refreshing and individual is great. Im rather dissapointed to see it apparently* uses the old gold mine track, as that thing was such and old, poor, run down ride - i was expecting enough financial input from BBPBPBBBPPPBBBPPPPP to make a brand new ride.

To say I'm looking forward to this, despite the loss of Gold Mine, is an understatement now that it's been officially announced. The marketing on that main board certainly looks very professional and hand in hand with Aardman (i.e. familiar jokes galore) so without saying I'll certainly be following the construction of this!
And not just because it's a dark ride and the duo are a childhood favourite, nope!

Im glad that they ain't replacing the track as there was nothing wrong with it. I rather see them use the budget on the scenes and the outside of the building. As the ride track must be about 3 mins long.

As much as I loved the in-depth theming (and slightly dodgy animatonics) of Gold Mine, the much awaited new dark ride is getting me interested already - partially with me being quite a fan of the original Wallace and Gromit movies.
I had a crack at designing a re-imagined dark ride on the site, although whether the actual ride has a pre-ride and exit gift shop is anyone's guess. The purple section is the current outline of the dark ride building.
For anyone interested, the Goldmine Gulch amenity building housing first aid and a ticket kiosk has been fully demolished - but you can get a good view of the construction site from inside the Millennium dome arcade.

Not sure about this yet, hopefully it's just early testing as there seems to be a couple of chunks with no water. It's also spraying the station quite a lot.

Apparently bits of the façade is coming off in granules , effectively being sandblasted by the waterfall when they first tested it for a long duration. This would probably explain why the waterfall is a bit on/off at the moment.
I seem to be in the small brigade that thinks the new skull is better for some reason. I like how it's more subtle and a tad more realistic. Not too in your face.

I miss the Valhalla logo on the Viking helmet but I like the new design as well. I'm not sure if it's better but it is different, slightly more cartoonist.Adam James wrote: I seem to be in the small brigade that thinks the new skull is better for some reason.
