A 6-year-old boy is said to have been seriously injured while riding on the ghost train at an amusement park in Lincolnshire.

The child was riding with his sister on the ghost train at Skegness resort Botton Brothers Pleasure Beach, when it is reported that he became trapped underneath one of the carriages just after midday on Monday.

His father alerted staff after the boy failed to emerge from the ride, the Lincolnshire Echo reported. James Botton, the managing director of Pleasure Beach Amusements, told the paper: "We really do not know how he came to be out of the car."

The boy is said to have suffered back and stomach injuries and received treatment at the scene, before being airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham. His condition was described as conscious but distressed.

Now I've never been, but there hasn't been half the coverage of this as there was at Alton Towers recently. It's horrendous though for the family and the little boy to be caught under the carriage, especially as Ghost Train's don't have the most clearance from the track. What do you think?

The problem is, they can easily be scared so natural instinct could have been to get out, is there a drop on the one at bottoms, there's less than a foot clearance on ghost trains, so I don't understand how on earth he managed to get underneath the carriage, this isn't been reported at all compared to the smiler crash, this is terrible news, all the best to the boy and family, this year has not been good at all in the UK for theme parks

Obviously we don't know what's happened yet, but there can be no fault of the ride or its operating procedures as the HSE were notified and the ride was still open the next day.
