Europa Park
Rides wise, I'd go as far to say that Alton Towers have a BETTER selection of rides (although Wodan might tip this :P). What Europa park does a million times better than Alton Towers is that they present each ride so well. Each ride, each shop, each pathway, is so vastly themed and the attention to detail is just out of this world. They understand that the rides are only a small part of the overall day out and they make sure every last bit is spot on every time! As for Europa's shows, well they literally ooze with magic!

And nor do they want to "beat" Nemesis. The presentation of Nemesis in terms of upkeep would probably give Roland Mack a nightmare, although I am sure he likes the physical ride. The maximum level of true thrill at EP is going to be family/thrill, and that's that.Benjsh wrote: Sorry Sam.....But can't let you get away with that. Making them look like a "conference team" is a ridiculous comment to be honest.
Nemesis, a ride that will be 20 years old soon, STILL kicks the backside of any ride in their Park. With the new technology around today and their Massive budget they still can't beat old Nemmie.
They do have a fantastic selection of rides though I'll grant you that. And they do maintain their park to a better standard too. Although, when your park is literally a "show park" to advertise your company's new rides to prospective buyers.....I suppose that is to be expected.
I'm certainly looking forward to going back to Europa this year. Not been since back in 2008. Although I am worried that When I visit the Park it is going to be unbearable due to the new Coaster opening.
And, I wouldn't worry about the new ride causing "unbarable" crowds. Sure, Wodan will have longer queue's than any other rides because it's new, but the park can easily cope with up to 40,000 guests a day and, even then, I have been when it's had almost 50,000 and still only three queue's were over 50 minutes.
For anyone interested, here are some extracts taken from the 2011 park show Luminocity, probably the best standard park show I have seen from Europa-Park. It took place in the Teatro dell'Arte in the Italian area.
Although the video only features the EP ShowBallet, and not the individual performances or comedian, it's still great to watch.
A brilliant show!

Had an idea while watching Ski Sunday on telly.
What's the most boring coaster in the park? Almost everyone would agree it's Schweizer Bobbahn. Something drastic needs to be done to make it a vital and relevant part of Europa's coaster arsenal again. My idea is to attach a timer system, like in real bobsled.
After the weird drop element, there'd be a big timer clock before the first turn, that would start counting up once the train hit a trigger point. The next trigger would be on the first breakrun, where another timer would stop allowing the train to see it's time down the track. For simplification reasons, it'd flash up either "ABOVE AVERAGE!" or "BELOW AVERAGE..." (maybe with a geeky little comment: "Dudes, that was a radical time down the slopes!") to the riders, allowing a sense of fun rivalry and excitement without it being too complicated.
It'd also finally find a use to the unending breakruns, with each having a screen showing the day's leaderboard times, the week's leaderboard times, and the all-time fastest runs. This is the kind of thing I have in mind:
Thoughts? Worth sending into the park somehow?

Dan, do you know anything about an article being mentioned on TPR saying that Wodan won't open until April 30th?
This thing looks a right beast and I can't wait to ride it at some point, hopefully next season! I guess I'm one of the few that thinks this looks amazing intertwined with Blue Fire and hot Portuguese ASS.

Europa Park's Facebook page has a teaser picture of the top of the lifthill blurred out, with 'Tomorrow 12:00!' written below it - could it be a POV/video of the full layout, or perhaps pictures of the trains?
Thanks to Ian for the sig!

That will be 11am here, as Germany is one hour ahead.
Here is the photo from their Facebook:
It can't possibly be a POV, they haven't even tracked it yet! I think either the fire stuff or an animated POV.
