I have just remembered two points from our behind the scenes tour.
The ride will get VERY close to Blue Fire. At one point there will only be a 15cm gap between them.
Also there will be fire effects at the top of the lift hill. I'm not sure if this picture has been posted before but it looks pretty good!

Haha if people didn't question the safety of wooden roller coasters before they certainly will now with fire thrown into the mix!
Looks brilliant though.

A new update thanks to Theme Park Review...
http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/vi ... 8#p1132418
Everything is looking very impressive now; it really looks like it is going to be a fantastic ride. Does anyone know when it is expected to open? It looks like they have got an awful lot of work to do yet if they are aiming for an April/May opening.

I love this photo:
I like the way that the supports from the lifthill form a straight diagonal to the right, and the drop does the same to the left, forming a sexy X.
The rather fun-to-ride Apocalypse at Six Fags Magic Mountain.

You'd have thought so. :PMi-Nigle wrote: Haha if people didn't question the safety of wooden roller coasters before they certainly will now with fire thrown into the mix!

Im sorry, as sexy as this coaster looks,im having a bit of nagging thought in the back of my head that the area of the park looks quite crowded and a lot going on.

It is quite crowded, but Europa is a busy park. It doesn't have huge, open spaces - especially on that side. All their larger rides have to be built on that side, away from the village.
When you actually see the coaster up close, it looks really good.

I hope their planning on covering the metal I-beams up. I think it's such a shame that every time the tracks cross each other they use a metal beam rather than all wood. On other GCI’s it’s not that noticeable but with so many interaction point I keep noticing those beams all over the place. That's just a personal annoyance but I think it would be nice if they used themed coverings to compensate.
Also A fireball on top of the lift I mean having one quite far to the side like Apocalypse is fine but on the wooden structure itself, that's mental. I can't wait to see it

And so, with 4.5 million more guests in the bag - the parks 2011 season came to an end today!
It is now closed, and re-opens on Saturday, 31st March 2012 at 9am!
Closed Season events will include Miss Germany, as usual - and a load of other bits and pieces.
Where will I get reliable Coke from now

I don't get the whole tipping in the station thing, won't that be uncomfortable at high speed?

The higher speed, the more comfortable it will be!Mi-Nigle wrote: I don't get the whole tipping in the station thing, won't that be uncomfortable at high speed?
Looking at this jaw-dropping photo of the Gravity Group's Hades, the immediate reaction is horror that anyone survives the element but it's taken so quickly that you probably don't even notice it's 90° unless you already know about it.

In fairness, that 90' bank is on a curve. Banking on a straight is different. But it's only a slight tilt, so I don't think it will be an issue.

The banking on the station fly-through was in fact the idea of the park operations director - he went and suggested it to GCI, who implemented it. Idea being that with the slight bank, people waiting in the station will more easily be able to see those on the ride while they whizz through
The park actually made loads of changes to the plans to make it look and feel better. Counter embanked turn before the lift, bigger gap on the lift/drop cross over to improve the look of the ride and the fly through twisting towards the crowd.

Construction Update: 15.1.12
Howdy, all! It's been a while, but the lovely people of the Chris-Space website have plenty more nuggets of building beauty for us!
The latest news seems to be that work on the coaster is continuing on schedule, with the weather remaining good over in Rust. There's been no real snow fall this year (thus far) which means the folks building the ride can just carry on day in, day out.
Work is going on at the moment to complete the helix by Blue Fire, where the clearance will be a reported 15cm between the two coasters. Once completed, the circuit is finished. However, the guys from GCI are already beginning preliminary track work on the rest of the layout!
With the ride opening to the public on March 31st, and a press event in the days prior that that, they'll no doubt want to have the Millennium Flyers testing on the ride sometime in the next month! Then, it's just a matter for all that lovely theming and landscaping which, as were told by one of the park directors at New Year, is going to be very special!
Here are the pictures;

Soon, the track will be completed:
So pretty!

Just before the brake run (on this image, you can see the access road around the back of the ride, which is where our group were lucky enough to go round over New Year!):
