Pleasurewood Hills

It seems that the Log Flume at Pleasurewood Hills is getting a makeover for the 2009 season. Currently named Mellow Yellow and painted blue and yellow the ride is being revamped this year and is changing it's name to Timber Falls.

I'm not sure how extensive the new theming will be but Pleasurewood Hills has had a lot of investment over the past few years and some of the theming at the park is of quite a high quality.

Considering that the park doesn't open for the new season until April they still have over a month to complete it.

Just a quick update from unofficial pleasurewood:



Work has started on the log flume. Hopefully soon we will be able to see how this turns out.

ha, that flumes been there since I was about 6! Good to see them putting effort into restoring the older rides..

I live 20 mins from PH, and havent been for about 8 years! maybe I should have a trip up there to see how much theyre investing, and to get a go on the new coaster from last season has anyone been on it?

If you haven't been to the park in 8 years you should see a marked improvement with the whole feel of the place. It still needs a lot of work in places but the new owners have invested millions on sprucing up the place with new theming, façades and paint jobs across the place and of course the addition of Wipeout.

Wipeout is a nice coaster to have at a small park like PH and is themed quite nicely. However, when I went there were some of the cars on the train out of use and the ride ops have to manually release each restraint which slows the throughput quite a lot - I feel they really need to sort these issues. Other than that it is a great coaster and really good fun.

As far as the park goes it has some really nice rides but also some really tired ones. The pirate ship for example is sooooooo slow at reaching full height and a little flat ride called Thunderstruck is embarrassing! Some new flats for the future are desperately needed IMO.

Sounds like Wipeout is having exactly the same issues it did at American Adventure, even with a new(er) train!

To be fair though, credit to it because the old girls, old ! I think without heavy unjustifiable investment the operations of the coaster will remain the same.

I missed out last season, but do plan on taking a trip up there purely to see the old girl in her new home! I love some of these smaller parks, they tend to have such a quikyness about them.

Pleasurewood Hills have updated there park brochure with a much more modern and fun professional look for this season. It is thought they are going to update their website very soon also with the same style:

As you can see the log flume has been renamed Timber Falls. It seems that it is literally just a new paint job and new name (The old name Mellow Yellow was pretty dire!)

From an email I received today we have a sneaky glimpse at what the new park website will look like! I must say it looks great and in-keeping with the new brochure. It really looks clean, fresh and modern!

Ok, the log flume at Pleasurewood Hills has had a repaint and a rename for this year. It's not fully rebuilt yet but here are some pics of it at the moment. For those who have been you will notice it has changed from the yellow and blue colours to brown and blue to coincide with thew new name: Timber Falls.

Pleasurewood Hills have finally put up their new website:

I must say it is a vast improvement on the old site and a real eye pleaser. All information is set out really neatly with up-to-date ride photography and user comments for rides.

They have also updated the park map which is an improvemnet but does look a little cluttered in my opinion. Great improvement all round though!

Also "Mellow Yellow" may possibly be the least inspiring name for any theme park attraction I have heard in a while :P

The park is really close to where I live, so what do you expect?! :P

The site is pretty epic though, Considering it's Pleasurewood! They're doing a great job this year =]

The log flume refurb is now complete. They have removed the tarps from part of the ride and the queueline and given it a new coat of paint. They have also decked the surrounding area too. The ride was apparently in dire need of a refurb and according to reports it now gets you much, much wetter than before!

Haven't been here since I was 15 about 24 years ago! What's it like now, is it any good? Off to Center Parcs in Elvedon in 2 weeks and plan to visit here and the Gt Yarmouth Pleasure Beach unless convinced otherwise

Pleasurewood is definitely worth a day out, if not a full day go for a few hours and then make the short journey to Gt Yarmouth. Pleasurewood has really cleaned up over the past few years after being bought by Grevin and Cie. There is still loads of work to be done and some areas of the park are still quite bare but all in all you can have a great day there. Wipeout is a really great coaster - the other coasters are pretty tame but still good fun. A nice day out.
