Just found the following regarding Fantasy Island:

Fantasy Island – Blue Anchor Leisure Ltd

Fantasy Island is in the resort town of Ingoldmells, between Skegness and Mablethorpe, and is a themed family resort providing entertainment, leisure and shopping for 3.5m visitors a year, during a seven-month season. There has been £25m of investment in Fantasy Island in the past 10 years.

A casino and related developments at Fantasy Island would enhance the visitor experience and allow for a move to all-year operation.

Phase 1 of the development would comprise the casino (750m2), three restaurants, a ‘show bar’, a 150-bedroom hotel and retailing, totalling some 9,000 square metres in all and costing £15m. Funding for this phase has been agreed in principle with US investors.

A second phase would see a further 17,000 square metres of development, costing £25m, and including further retail development, 50 self-catering apartments, a Weather Centre (an educational and entertainment centre) and an Indoor Waterpark.

Sounds cool, although i really don't see much point, isn't there butlins just down the road with a water park and lots of accommodation?

Yeah hopefully. I'm hopin the owners flan for a new coaster.thrill ride.
Yet another park insn't going down the southport pleasureland route.

Hate to say it but the Tussauds do need a rival in the uk (I don’t count Blackpool or draton mannor as they rarely push to do anything bold and new, and I don’t count Oakwood as it isn’t in the same catchment area.) so that they are more competitive with theming, advertising and pricing, as all these three seem to be going a bit mad at the moment. They do seem to have noticed recently a large company from America (e.g. Cedar Fair ) could come in, find a good patch of land and completely rinse them, so they have perked up slightly, but I think they need a direct competitor on the same grounds as them as it will help them to be creative.

Fantasy Island is probably the most unheard of "big" theme park in the UK and it certainly deserves more attention, even from enthusiasts. When I first stumbled across the park on RCDB, I couldn't believe that a park with such a huge coaster and unique selection of rides could be so little talked about.

Hopefully the new management will make the park more widely known and most importantly (for me at least), add some new coasters

Apprantly it wouldn't happen with passengers on it. Ooo imagine being on it at the time if it did that, would be kind of cool really yet scary.

But it has happend with people on a few times, Jublilee Oddesey is prone to stalling its stalled many times in is sort life, they even reprofiled the track to try and make it not stall shortly after it opened in 2002, its something to do with the winds comin in off the sea and other things that make it stall.

Looks like Vekoma can't make B&M's promise that their coasters never stall...

I was a big follower of FI development back in the day and I still have some construction pictures of JO somewhere. The ride suffers terribly with problems due to wind - highly clever for a park built on the coast I think you'll agree.

The ride was more often than not closed during its first few seasons - the park could not risk the chances of the coaster stalling with a train of thirty people. I used to visit the park four or five times a year and to this day I have only been able to ride it once! Standing and watching the ride run a circuit is quite remarkable, you could place bets on whether it would stall (there's always the chance it could) and to a non-enthusiast you can spot the places the train would come to a halt (it really does go slow!).

Even looking at the ride from photographs it really isn't hard to spot why it stalls. http://www.rcdb.com/ig1413.htm?picture=14 - the height differences between the ride sections are minimal and when wind is high it loses speed pretty noticably!

And btw.. I found the ride to be *pretty* darn painful on the last inversion! The train goes far too slow (inversion just before the brake run http://www.rcdb.com/ig1413.htm?picture=7).

Does anybody know the end of season closure date for Fantasy Island? I have looked on there website but couldn't find it... so thought id come and ask you clever bunch

Hopefully they'll do something about the shops that make pound stores look stylish, and that awful mock auction stand....

This has not been confirmed as yet. It is just another rumour.

CL have not even taken over Fantasy Island itself yet. Only the Market.

fantasy island have hired a plot under the lift hill of the oddessy to a showman and the ride they have put there is maze of horrror and is priced £2pp
