More problems. There have been more "explosions" and "bangs" from the ride recently - it will not open any earlier than Spring 2010 now. However, it's looking very iffy.

Given the debacle of Mumbo Jumbo's throughputs, I am now not sure that S&S shouldn't just give up!

I believe this is the second time (we know of) this coaster has had a serious mechanical failure during testing and starting ripping itself to bits. Will it ever open? And will the reputation of S&S ever recover?

It wasnt a failure, and it wasnt a Explosion.
they Test the Breaks for the Catchcar for the reason that something happened like last Time, and it works, but its really loud.
The flying Part isnt from the Rollercoaster, they think its a lost Screw from the Motorsport Teams which came to the Track.

The complete Project is an Idea of idiots.
A lot of failures, and a lot of Money from the State...

As the moment the know they want to build a coaster, they search for a company which can build it.
Intamin have a Factory direct near the Nürburgring, but the Guy who "search" the company, works also for S&S Powers... U see the problem...

Lot of misstakes.. i think they have to sold the Coaster, and the new owner can try to let it fixed by intamin.
On the Nürburgring the concept never works, NEVER.

I was at the Nurburgring last weekend and can confirm that they are testing Ring Racer alot at the moment, and most of the testing is being done at night (I expect this is due to the race track being used during the day).

I also read on line somewhere that due to problems with the launch it may only be launching at 80mph instead of the 135mph promised speed. The original manufacturers have been binned and a new company brought in to try and fix it etc etc. Anyway, we all know and its publicised (although not very well) of the problems its had. It did seem fast on launch, our hotel was literally nextdoor, but its impossible to tell exactly how fast.

Its such a shame its taking so long to open as I can't wait to go on it!

Goodness knows if it's reliable, but a poster on EP Board has claimed that they have a source who has told them that the attraction will now not open at all.

Period.

No less than 4 years, 1 month and 28 days after it's initially proposed opening date, the Nürburgring's S&S launched coaster, Ring°Racer, officially opened to the public on the 31st of October 2013.

A POV can be found here, footage provided by the Nürburgring.

That is no way worth 12.3 Million Euro!

I know it's fast but apart from that bit of track at the end of the launch it looks dull. S&S Power don't seem to be very good lately (Just look at Slammer, lol)

That is one disappointing ride! I can't believe it took over 4 years!!! The launch looks amazing and that twist and drop is good but after that just plain nothing. Squirrel nutty has a more interesting track layout. They could've at least thrown in some airtime hills!

Thoroughly disappointed.

It was a pointlessly long straight after the launch, a bit of moderate coaster, then it's squirrel nutty! Worse, actually, because on here you'd have a shoulder restraint on you. Nothing to see, and whenn the POV ended I said "was that it?"

If it takes that much money and time, it's got to be pretty good. And it wasn't. It was, in fact, worse than staying home.

You sure this video isn't a joke?

It was never intended to be a 'park worthy' coaster - more of a hugely expensive novelty. Don't forget how restricted they were in space to work with. :)

The launch track is so long because it is intended to simulate the acceleration of a race car along the start/finish straight that it runs parallel to. I personally think the launch looks pretty incredible, second only to Dodonpa's in terms of raw acceleration.

In short, the launch is the ride. Everything that comes after it (with the possible exception of the turnaround/drop after the brakes) merely serves to return the ride to the station. In my opinion, that long coast through the building looks far more interesting (not to mention throughput friendly) than the brake run they could just have easily put in.

...And for the record, it has lap bars. ;)
