Pretty much my thoughts entirely. I felt Dragon Khan was the only true world-class ride at the park. Of the others, several were downright uncomfortable or just badly operated.

This is exactly what PA need.

I'm not so sure about the vividness of DK's new paint job - it seems to me that it will clash awfully with Shambhala's track. I am extremely excited about the new ride though, I remember PA being a very cool park when I visited a few years back.

Looks like some Six Flags Superman clone. I admire the sentiment of repainting it, but they should have left it light blue.

That really looks so bad. However, Shambles' colour scheme has rather grown on me.

Wow Dragon Khan looks awful, the original colour of the supports was better in my opinion there is no doubt that it needed a new paint job but that is rather excessive.

Dragon Khan looks awful with darker blue supports, the supports were originally painted light blue to blend into the sky and now they stand out more than ever - yes it needed re-painting but it was the red track that needed it not the supports.  :|

Hello my friends from TowersTimes!

Today I've visited the park limit (because it remains now closed) and have done some pictures with my new camera.

It seems that the lift will be up in the next days (as you can see here, there's a couple of supports just in the beginning zone, right near from station).

There's a new construction near Dragon Khan lift that I think it will be the photo-rides building because there's no wall on one of his sides (in front of Khan's station).

Finally, they're starting to put some bricks right under the station zone and, probably, it will be covered in the next days too.

I hope you like it!

Best regards from Spain!

It may not be as aesthetically pleasing as it once was.......Still awesome though. I have never had more fun on a steel coaster than I have on DK barring maybe Nemesis. Never gets Old!

I’m waiting for the finished product before judging the Aesthetics. Who knows they may be adding more than just a new paint job, maybe several large themed objects/backdrops which will make the new colour scheme work perfectly.

Thanks one again Jivo. I am surprised though how little track has been installed yet. It’s been a long time since the break run was added.

Do we have a provisional opening date for Shambhala? Considering a cheap break in 2012 to the park with new flights to Reus seemingly popping up from every airport in the Midlands, but need to know when it's due open.

I was hoping to get there pre summer but information seems limited. They don't seem to be in any rush, I may look at September instead!

About two months ago there was some problems with Ryannair, the plane company who provides most of the flights to Reus. Apparently there's a solution now and It will be flights from march to the next 2012's winter. Considering that the season at PortAventura's will start, probably, on 1st April (due to national holidays) and it seems that works have had a small delay of a couple of weeks, it appears that will be open around final May weeks, probably June.

In other order of things, seems that Shambhala will not be the only novelty in PortAventura. Last week a regional TV News do some report around the park zone, announcing the attendance's forecast for this closed season and they announce too that 1) there will be a caravan-park with a combinet ticket that will allows you to park your trailer and enter the park at an affordable price and 2) just now they're constructing a new kiddie ride just where Campament Mongol was, since the parks open at 1995. Apparently seems to be something like Peugeot Driving School.

Yes, a driving school ride right in China, I think you're shocked as me. Italian job!

The last days of the 2011 season Jambre, a PA-Community user, posted some photos of this area and yes, they are working! Seems that they begin to dismantle the wood booths:

I don't know if this is the place to write this or should I open a new post, if so the admins can do what they deem, sorry!

Best regards from Spain

Surprised these haven't been put up yet.

Models showing details and the ride layout have appeared at the International Tourism Trade Fair. The layout includes a tunnel following the first drop, the turnaround helix, a speed section and a splashdown, so it looks like the park's going to be opened up a bit providing some new views of Khan too.

Credit goes to oriolat2 from Coasterforce, pacommunity and tucoaster for these pictures.

My god. :O

Look at the size of the thing!

But for crying out loud, paint Kahn's supports white again. They look god damn awful.

Holy hell.

That first drop is steep. I think Khan will still look OK because it has loops. But looking at the two of them together, is there any better expression of B&M's newfound ambition and sense of purpose? :D
