I think part of that is that the mist is water vapour, so it's always cold! if the used a proper smoke machine it might be better.

I've seen in once with smoke instead of water. It was very thick (it covered the 0G area) and you couldn't see the walls of the tunnel. Very effective. It even smelt the part.

One problem was that everybody was having a coughing fit exiting the tunnel and had been setting off smoke alarms. I don't think it will be reused. It was obsessive, the amount of fog was about. But amazing for the half hour it lasted.

The current water and lights is a nice touch though. Its a lot better than having nothing. Even SFX are starting to re-appear in the queue like the rumble. We just the waterfalls working now.

Its actually quite shocking how many effects the ride has...

I thought I would mention that it is now exactly 9 years ago that the Great Fire ripped through Wicked Witches Haunt & Tropical Travels at Thorpe Park, both of which were Mack family rides.

RIP!

That fire at Thorpe was well before my time as a theme park enthusiast! However, thanks Dan I just spent the last hour and a half reading up the history of Thorpe Park over the last 10 years! I must say the park has had so much development over the last 10 years it is quite insane really.

Oh and didn't Colossus look nice when it was new!

Anyway, I went to Thorpe Park yesterday and had a lovely day despite the rain that flicked on and off throughout the day. The great news was all the rides were operating throughout the day apart from Detonator which opened up late morning - I noticed some techs climbing on it in the morning.

I must however reiterate my earlier point in temporary fences. The entrance plaza is ruined by them and now Saw uses them as an overflow queue which looks extremely untidy. [spoiler:2d5qng9p]As for Saw the blades were swinging this time around but the body was not spewing blood which was a shame.[/spoiler:2d5qng9p]

I didn't go on Colossus yesterday as the queue was full to the brim - it seemed they were only using one train which is crazy on a day that busy.

One thing I noticed was the amount of rubbish in the queuelines. Now this is not a problem with the park but with the guests. In the Saw queueline for instance there is a bin, no word of a lie, every 10ft or so. Now why can't people put the rubbish in them no one knows - there was rubbish on top of them, on the floor around them, chucked over the fences, everywhere but in the bins themselves. The place looked an absolute state.

One final point - Rush is absolutely awesome. Best flat ride at Thorpe Park.

I also got a very well timed (fluke) photo of Nemesis and Stealth:

Thanks, I thought that too but it'd be quite hard to make it the right shape for a sig.

Hey :)

Just wondering roughly how busy Thorpe is on an August weekday - I know it's school holidays so not expecting it to be empty, but just wondered in terms of queue times.

I should imagine it would be very busy. We went yesterday and the queues were between 60 and 90 mins. We actually queued for about an hour for loggers leap!

Just a tip - we got there very early so got in the park at 9.30 on the dot. We were able to do Saw, Stealth and Nemesis with barely any queue whatsoever. :D

But not all schools have broken up yet so that could still be the last of the school trips, or am I just trying to be optimistic :P

Can't really get there early as we're coming down on train, and we can't really get there much before 12 as we come down through London and before 9:15 it costs a bomb!

Last time we went it was the day the schools went back early September was bliss, an empty park don't think we can do that this time though

Yeah there were still some school groups but I would expect it to be as busy or even busier in August. I don't know for sure though I have never been in August!

School trip days, especially the last few days of term are always the worst.

If you think about the summer holidays it's over 6 weeks so less concentrated, if that makes sense. Alton Towers isn't too busy in the holidays 30-60in queues when I've been so wondered if Thorpe was the same

I have come to a decision and that is that Saw is my favourite coaster at Thorpe Park. The reason being there are two really fun elements. The first one is the air time hill just before the photo and the second in the sudden drop just after the photo.

Actually scrap that, I'd say it's joint with N:I. A bloody fun coaster nonetheless. :D
ok tags like Disney, Drayton, Jackson and Alton are not needed and really pointless but of the other "sexual" ones are neither here nor there.

Who is actually offended by any of these words:
deep throat forceful satisfaction tits jugs melons knockers boobs boobies sex xxx shag bonk screw porn porno moan grown orgasm happy ending hardcore
It was obviously a joke, its supposed to be unashamedly immature. There's no foul language really. Nothing you wouldn't hear on any comedy. If it was all Cs and Fs fair enough but its not.
Using the name of a very famous, well loved recently deceased person to advertise such a crude video is very insensative and offensive.

And it's just irresponsible and extremely unprofessional to add tags of overt sexual innuendo to a video whose audience very much includes children.

The video itself is tacky, crude and just chavvy - but that's not offensive. Just really unprofessional on their behalf. But I guess it reflects the nature of the park.
