I've not been for years because I just found it un-enjoyable.

However I think that in the Saw queue it's just actors with Pig Masks on.

But yeah, prepare for 2+ hour queue's for everything all day.

If you go down to the Towers today, you\'d better ride Th13teen. :P

^ No worries :)

I'm sure you'd still have a great day, and I definitely wouldn't want to ruin your family day out, or even put you off it BUT I just thought you should know what it's like.

Maybe it's just me :P I struggle to enjoy Thorpe even on an average day.

Hmm...
Due to an exciting media event, SAW Alive will be closing for the day on Friday 13th August. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Source - TP Official Site

I'm not sure what to think of this, if it's genuine then fair enough, but I have a feeling that they're either doing this as a PR stunt for the 'Friday 13th' reasoning or they're trying to make Alton Towers look less bad following their Th13teen publicity stunt.

Hopefully this 'exciting media day' will be good though, it will need to be for most of the GP to forgive them for not opening SAW: Alive. ;)

I would guess they're doing a press release to announce a new SAW film.

That's probably what it is, yes. :)

On a note only slightly related, with the launch of SAW 3D in cinemas, and Thorpe Park introducing new SAW attractions left, right and center, can anybody else see SAW: 4D arriving at the park sooner or later?

They had Saw 4D at Halloween last year didn't they?

I love how these Saw films just keep on coming. It is a successful franchise so I guess they'll just keep making it until it stops being successful. Although the Saw 3D trailer does state that it is the final chapter, finger crossed.

That Saw music is still immense!

For all the non-MAP holders out there...
Get two free tickets, valid for adults or kids, to Thorpe Park when you collect five out of eight tokens from The Sun (20p/30p weekdays depending on region, 60p Saturdays) or News of The World (£1).

As adult tickets are £38 each on the day (£24 for kids), this deal will save you up to £76. Though if you usually use printable 2for1's the saving's more like £38 on the day.

When can I go?

You can’t request a specific date so you'll need to be flexible; choose five of the ten date bands provided (spanning dates from 01 Sept - 07 April 2011) in order of preference.

Band Date Range
A 01 Sept – 07 Sept
B 08 Sept – 14 Sept
C 15 Sept – 21 Sept
D 22 Sept – 28 Sept
E 29 Sept – 05 Oct
F 06 Sept – 14 Oct
G 15 Oct – 02 Nov
H 03 Nov – 07 Nov
J 17 Mar – 28 Mar 2011
K 29 Mar – 07 Apr 2011

Tickets will be valid for one day from one of your chosen date bands where possible, valid for the allocated date only.

^Possibly filming an advert for Fright Nights, they're probably going to be starting to advertise it now to rake the people in. Saying that it makes more sense to film it once the summer holidays are over.

No, see, I thought that, but the preview in last week's episode (i.e. before the closure) included clips from this item, so unless they went back and did more filming :?

I thought that was why the attraction was closed. (Gadget Show). But, they said on the show they only had a few hours.

I know film four are doing a horror film thing at the moment, and they, last weekend, previewed bits of saw 34 in 3D. Maybe that was something to do with it?

Maybe channel 4 are doing a new reality show for the winter season, where they will put members of the public in the maze for 4 months and televise it.

Didn't see the week before gadget show

Must just be my annual passes  They don't hardly work at all.

At Legoland the barriers didn't accept them and I had to jump the ones at Alton. I think I need to get them changed.

Screamscape is reporting a rumour that the next coaster will be a woodie. :)

Is Lance ever going to stop posting old rumours  , Screamscape isn't the most reliable source. THORPE PARK won't be getting a woodie, the engineers only know how to maintain steel rollercoasters. Theywill have to hire a whole new team of engineers to maintain it. I'll email him and tell him that there won't be a woodie.

I'll be at THORPE PARK tomorrow so I may take a few snaps of the Storm Surge parts and upload them.

Lance runs the best theme park website in the world.

Anyway it's a constantly revived rumour, not an old one. It could still happen. I don't see why the engineers are a problem. There's MANY parks around the world that have recently got a wood coaster after only having steel and have been fine. And they've been independent parks. Thorpe is part of a chain that already has a modern woodie in its portfolio.

And everyone stop writing "THORPE PARK", it's incredibly annoying.
