This is turning into a right slanging match, and going way off topic from discussion on Thorpe's future. Stick to the topic please, and keep personal insults/discussion/arguments off the forum and hold them privately please.
*gives hug* I only came up with a nice idea to say farewell to Tidal Wave and he decided that I was stupid. Anyway back on topic after this post.

That would not be cool in the slightest; that would be utter vandalism. :|

It would be cool, because it would be amazing to go to THORPE PARK and see utter devistation around Amity Cove, knowing that it will have a fresh, new theme in a couple of years. Obviously, Tidal Wave won't close for about five to ten years yet.

Anyway, does anybody know if there'll be an age limit for SAW Alive?

To further electricBill's point, it would be horrendous. The area already has an excellent theme - the theming in KFC, for instance, is fantastic, and TBH already similar to what you describe, minus the gratuitous vandalism.

Mild destruction done deliberately as theming = good.

Complete destruction (with half the park "smashed up") is, to be frank, awful.

Well, at the end of the school year at my school, we get to smash up our form room.

Then your school has discipline problems :)

(Note: I know of muck-up day; my school definitely did that, but it was a bit of light-hearted fun involving little more than toilet tissue, a few water balloons outside, and an inflatable... well... it was an all-boy's school, use your imagination ;)... tied to the flagpole. Certainly no one went as far as to 'smash up' anything. And now this is off-topic...)

Going back on-topic, with all this (false) talk of Tidal Wave going bye-bye, what do people think is next to go? I'm not talking about Octopus Gardens, the carousel or the like, but out of Thorpe's proper thrill rides? I'm gonna guess most people would sat XNWO, but how about out of the flats? Thoughts?

A Thorpe Park future discussion? What about a tunnel ride with the speed of a bullet train. I am sure that would be a blast. But I think that would be too impossible, just a wishful thinking. Commercial Playground Equipment

Vortex. That thing is fun but it's not very thrilling. I also smashed my back against the seat on it aswell.

The great queueline video and small theming changes helped boost X No Way Out's life a little longer. However, last time I went on the ride the video was not playing and it seemed the robot dummies that appear on one of the break sections had been removed! The new lighting and music was still there, which built atmosphere in the queueline, but there should be something climatic to come after it; not a slow, confusing, dark, backwards rollercoaster that stops all the time. It just desperately needs something to give it some sense.

If nothing is done, then the ride is sure to be removed. There is nothing exciting about it and always makes people wonder what was meant to happen as if they missed the point. There just is no point! It takes up a huge space and has a really long, dark queueline for nothing more than a very short ride in the dark.

I would remove the rollercoaster and gut the station areas. This would leave a big building with so much potential for a great dark ride. A ride like Duel could easily fit into Thorpe Park, with perhaps an 'alien' theme with large scale effects. It would probably have to be a laser shooter, though, but this is not a bad thing if designed well and would fit right into the target market.

The only problem is: it will mean there are too many shooting rides in Merlin's UK theme parks. I still think Duel only has guns for the sake of it and they can easily be removed; Tomb Blaster does actually work very well with the guns because of the format of the ride; but it is a shame about Laser Raiders at Legoland because it cannot have its guns removed as it was built with them. Proper dark rides are far more exciting than guns; I can't understand why most theme parks decided they all needed guns to be popular. But it does work well if done properly, and this could be at Thorpe Park when X No Way Out is closed.

I really like your idea - i have said it before but Thorpe park is idea for a purpose built more adult aimed laser ride, while the UK is in need of a good dark ride without guns like Haunted House used to be.

I think if Thorpe gutted out the useless areas (the dome, the water park the kiddie-flat rides, X: No Way Out) imagine the entrance space they would have?! Also - if they re-did Calypso Quay (remove the rapids and put it in Chessie) - there would be an epic amount of space for some seriously good dark rides. I wish they'd also keep up the differentiation between the themed lands; it is a theme park after all!

But - yes - a MAJOR dark ride is needed. I applaud their efforts with SAW - it proves they can do it, and with John Wardley still manning the helms, it seems a great time for them to put one in. All the other parks have one...

I totally agree that they should keep up the differentiation between areas, i know it has been argued that thorpes guests do not notice the different themed areas but i dont think thats entirely true.

Also Thorpe did have some good and unique ideas behind their themed areas they just need re-enforcing a bit more

I feel as well that the differentation between areas is needed, being the "uk's thrill capital" doesn't mean they can get away with lazy theming. Thorpe seem to now think good cohesive theming involves the same types of trees and benches

The idea that guests don't appreciate, or even see differences in the lands was definitely not true for me when i first went, this was only 2008 and i could clearly see differences between the lands, i don't see why these should be ignored any more, a theme parks with good rides but no atmosphere is nothing.

I highly doubt it metal is still a favourite for TP. They are probably thinking about planning their next rollercoaster x doesn't pass their minds once nor do the lack of dark rides...

Personally i don't but my freind says that Inferno and Collosus have had their time (and obviously X) but what do you think?

I cant see Inferno or colosuss going anywhere soon. They were large investments and have helped thorpe claim the thrill capitol name.

I can see them getting ride of some of the smaller rides to be replaced by a larger scale attraction. For example, depth charge.

Of course they have not. Without Nemesis Inferno and Colossus, Thorpe Park would be missing a large part of their theme park. Hundreds of people go there just to ride them. And it is also silly to state that X No Way Out, dark rides and the entrance have not crossed their minds. Merlin have a large team set up to do just that and it will probably get sorted soon. It can't happen like magic.

Thorpe have released some new Saw Alive pictures:

Image
"First insight into SAW Alive..."

Image
"What are we using this for?"

Image
"Big blades, but what are they for?"

Image
No escape, SAW Alive is surrounded by water"

They don't exactly give a huge amount away, but the fourth one is nice at least - shows how the Thorpe Belle has been made to look old and dilapidated... (hang on, is that theming or not? :P)

wow im actually quite excited about this attraction i was hoping they would add a Dungeons attraction to Thorpe but this is the next best thing!

I think it will be a good addition to the park and they are putting some effort into it which is good.

These are the rides that have photos available on.

SAW Alive
SAW - The Ride
Stealth
Nemesis Inferno
Colossus
Tidal Wave
Loggers Leap
Rumba Rapids
Flying Fish
Depth Charge
Walkabout Photography

The thing that struck me as odd was the following sentance under this info on the site.

Look out for great deals on the day such as two photos, key rings and magnets for £10!

Surely they don't mean:
2 photos
2 Keyrings
2 Magnets
ALL for £10, but the website clearly states AND not OR!
Silly mistake or amazing offer?
