After having a quick look on their website at the Fright Night videos - all these mazes seem the same as one another!? Basically dark corridors with people with scary make-up jobs (basically the same make-up in each maze) popping out at you.

Not one of them looks like any thought has been put into it whatsoever and it seems having 5 mazes with just small variations on each seems pointless.

CoasterCrazychris, having visited in 2008, I have to strongly disagree with that statement. None of the mazes felt alike at all, in my opinion, here's my 2 cents (spoilered for those who don't want to know the themes, etc..)

The Asylum
[spoiler:6anxpgtz]The Asylum is themed around a mental hospital, lots of strobe lighting, insane men and women braking out of cages around you, chasing you, and if you're lucky you'll get a guy with a chainsaw towards the finale too, this is the best maze for me.[/spoiler:6anxpgtz]

Hellgate
[spoiler:6anxpgtz]Hellgate is, obviously, themed around Hell, the maze is very dark, with no strobe lighting, and the actors are all on stilts, which they do various things with, at one point the person at the front of my group was tempted forward to crawl between the stilts, before being 'attacked'. Again, an excellent maze, in my opinion, but completely different to The Asylum.[/spoiler:6anxpgtz]

The Curse
[spoiler:6anxpgtz]The Curse is themed around a ship which has washed up on Amity Beach, this one arguably has the nicest theming and the actors inside are all pirates / slaves who have fallen to 'The Curse', the best themed, but it offered few scares.[/spoiler:6anxpgtz]

Se7en
[spoiler:6anxpgtz]Se7en is by far the weakest of the mazes, themed around the film, you go through a room themed to each of the Se7en sins, unfortunately there only seemed to be about 2 actors in the whole maze when I went in, but the theming is again, solid.[/spoiler:6anxpgtz]

The mazes are very good, and completely different from each other (the YouTube videos do them no justice, really), but would I queue 2 hours for any of them? No.

Turns out I'm free thursday afternoon, so I'm thinking about heading down there for a few hours, despite my initial insistence I wouldn't bother this year

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but Thorpe Park have made a video/trailer for fright nights this year.

I have to say, this is actually a good video by Thorpe, which is a rare thing for me to say. Definitely worth seeing if you're going there this halloween, like me.

Wow, fantastic video there produced by Thorpe, it made my hairs prick up.

To be fair (with the exception of the 'theme park porn' video which I'm sure you all remember, Thorpe Park have generally been excellent with viral marketing videos.

Asylum Spoiler
[spoiler:32of7cmc]Loved the reference to the finale of The Asylum too, I saw it coming, but only because I read the description "a woman locked in a secure mental institute" and have been in the maze. Very clever.[/spoiler:32of7cmc]

Well done Thorpe. Although there's still no way I'll be attendance.

i would like to say this dose not look that scary but in the dark with smoke and lights it might be it is a very small zone and you can only walk one way though it :( so its more an our door mini maze in my eyes if they are controlling it

Whoever planned the terror zone was clearly on drugs.

Miss Hippo's Fungle Safari, scary? No.

...But at least we will be able to see all the old bits and bobs from the past make a reappearance... :(

If it's controlled, it isn't a Scare Zone.

erm is that actually a scare zone or just stuff to be thrown away (or in storage) I fail to see how a ride height sign, a plastic hippo and a ride opening sign are in anyway scare maze/zone related. Its just a bunch of old thorpe crap.

I have to correct you here. It's not themed after the film it's themed just on the 7 deadly sins.

Also, I have to say I agree, Se7en was CRAP in 2008, but in 2009 I felt it was the strongest maze, with curse as the worst.

Debating if I wanna go or not this year... Might do, it's money though!

Controversially in 2008 and 2009 I found The Curse the best maze, in my experience. I had a couple of runs through where it was poor, but they seemed to crank it up during the event. My final run through it in 2008 was quite terrifying!
Asylum in 2008 was good, but was very poor for me in 2009, whereas Hellgate and Se7en are completely unmemorable for me.
I'm going to pop down later today to see how this years event fares. That 'scare zone' looks terrible, will be interesting to see what they do with it.
Will report back!

It looks to me as if they've just gone all cheap and thrown all the unused crap from over the years.

Opening times for Model World? Height stick for another attraction...

Pfft, Please! :|
