I'm surprised that by this point Merlin have not tryed to expand their brands into other regional shopping centres besides the Trafford Centre, especially given the success of the Legoland Discovery Centre here.

The likes of Bluewater and the Metrocentre seem like ideal places, especially in the case of the latter where there is large space left from where the funfair closed down.

The space in the Metro Centre where Metroland used to be is now the Odeon multiplex cinema which includes an IMAX digital screen.  Lots of fancy new restaurants have replaced the old food court also.

Your welcome Tom, an aquarium has been known to open at Trafford Centre since April, it was just not known that it would be a SEALIFE Centre, until the planning application went in, but it was heavily rumoured it would be them.

No other details are known yet though, over what will be displayed. Or whether Legoland Discovery Centre will be linked into the SEALIFE Centre too, making it an all in one day trip for families, or even if the SEALIFE Centre could incorporate a Lego attraction like the Atlantis Submarine Voyage.

This is definitely something to look forward to! I'm sure a SEA LIFE centre in Barton Square will do just fine, especially when accompanied by the discovery centre just a few metres away.

I would imagine it will probably open around the same time as the Legoland Discovery Centre did. So construction and fitting out the space for SEALIFE in the Winter, with an opening in Spring around March or April time, to hit the Easter holidays like the Discovery Centre did.

Manchester is set to receive a new branded aquarium, opening early next year.

The SEALIFE Centre will be located in Barton Square at the city’s Trafford Centre shopping destination.
The attraction will be the second operation at the site operated by Merlin Entertainments, with a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre having opened in 2010.
Set to open ‘Spring 2013′, this new addition will be the fifteenth SEALIFE branded attraction in the United Kingdom.
Details of any unique displays are currently scarce, however “an amazing 360° ocean tunnel, 30 display tanks and more than 5,000 sea creatures” are promised according to the cluster’s newly reorganised marketing team.
Has the magic gone for me - yep almost!

Not sure if anyone is interested, but I emailed Merlin about this a few weeks ago and was told the recruitment drive would start via Merlin's careers page in Spring 2013

There’ll be something fishy going on at the Trafford Centre from next month – and here’s the proof.

These tropical fish are the very first inhabitants of the brand new Sea Life Centre due to open in a few weeks.

They will soon be joined by thousands more aquatic animals, to be exhibited in more than 30 underwater displays.

An entire room will be devoted to sharks, plus one for sea horses – as well as rays, eels, jellyfish and terrapins.

For the European First photo thing they mentioned, I hope they're able to take a photo of you and then make it appear as the statue... that'd be quite fun.
