Predictable... but still very much a shame. :|

All the coaster enthusiasts will be very sorry to hear that the project for the new Orlando Thrill Park, a new [s:12g17a7f]theme[/s:12g17a7f] amusement park with 15 rides (almost all being record-breaking roller coasters), has been rejected yesterday. The plan was considered not suitable for the area, according to the Tangelo Park residents, as they stated that the noise and the traffic that the park would have brought was going to be unbearable.

Here's an artistic rendering of what the park would have looked like:

You may have noticed from that rendering (that has been re-worked to please the nearby residents of the Tangelo park) that they planned to add many layers of trees and plants, a small lake with beautiful fountains, and a huge wall to keep the noise away. In addition to that, the OTP group also agreed on building the parking structures on the southern end of their land, to make their rides even further away from the nearby houses. It din't work.

What does this mean? Is the Orlando Thrill Park project DEAD? Well, not necessarily. The Orlando Thrill Park group has been given time to re-design once again their plans, and to re-submit them in the next four days, before the project can be considered cancelled FOR THAT AREA. If they still want to build it, they just need to go elsewhere! That's all.

In case more news will be released, we'll post them here. Stay tuned!

Is that artist's rendering meant to give an accurate portrayal of the coasters? Because on the far right looks to be a Vekoma Stingray, and top middle appears to be an Intamin Zacspin. Surely both of these are far too low capacity for Florida? I guess there would be many coasters to soak up guests though.

Well, they are not giving up, yes, the plans for the proposed "Orlando Thrill Park" are back once again! After some tweaks to the development plans and zoning of the proposed location back in October, the plans have been resubmitted, in aim of a decision to be made in the next couple of weeks :)

A link to the article can be seen here.

So, once again, what shall become of the proposal, will it finally get the go ahead, or is it still just some enthusiasts dream? We shall have to wait and see I guess :)
