It's a shame Oakwood can't put on a full scale halloween event but i guess the tourists that would visit are long gone with the great british summer :-(

This single attraction does not sound worth the trip. Sounds like it could be the Crystal Maze attraction with "actors" dressed up and a bit of theming if i'm honest.

Has anyone noticed that Oakwood isn't actually open for Halloween. There last day of the session is Sunday, October 30th.

In a way, if they do get a Vekoma Corkscrew their logo will make even less sense - as it will be an image of their worst major ride.  I hope it doesn't happen, as it would be a massive step backwards after Speed.

Then again.. a lot has changed since they got speed. Mega debt for them and different company..

I think a corkscrew would be better than nothing added like the past few years. Though the logo would be nice to be changed to a eurofighter car going through an inversion ;)

I think somebody's just put two and two together and come up with six.

It's a bit presumptuous to say it's likely to be a Corkscrew coaster on the basis their logo uses a highly generic image to represent what the business is about.

I've worked at Oakwood for the past 2 seasons and you do hear a lot of rumours flying about, but the corkscrew rumour was the main rumour of the 2011 season

its probably a new take on a corkscrew coaster they wouldnt think outside the box.
but why would everyone say a corksrew other parks are removing them now for updated coasters.
it makes no sence to me.

How many years has it been now? 6?

Aspro make Merlin look like Disney. Since they bought the park, they have installed not one single attraction.

Please, just sell the park to someone who knows how to run one.

It's their 25th birthday too!

It would have been nice to see a new ride to celebrate their 25th birthday!

Lovely to visit though.

Hopefully one day they'll have money in order to buy a new attraction, or sell it to someone who could possibly make money from it.

It's so lucky it has two fantastic coasters there, otherwise it would not really be worth visiting at all.

I presume you've never been then.... as it's actually a very nice little park, with some decent rides.

I'm visiting Oakwood again at some point next week, and considering it's likely to be one of my only theme park visits this year, I'm really looking forward to it. However, the severe lack of any change whatsoever since my last visit (two years ago) and just how empty the park was, is rather depressing.

The park really needs a decent family coaster, or a log-flume. It needn't be expensive to be a good experience, and like many rides at Oakwood, the natural setting around the rides is enough theming. Yet with ever year, there is tragically nothing new, I'm not sure if the park can remain competent for much longer.

Do you think they don't update it much as they ain't got any other major theme parks in Wales to give them a run for there money? I never been as the further I been to in South Wales is Cardiff. The only other theme parks I been to in Wales in the past was Barry Island theme park and the funfair that was at Butlins now Haven. The only thing I know about this park was then it was on the news when that teenager fell from the top
Of there water drop ride.

Apparently, staff trainning took place at Thorpe Park earlier in the year and the management were a bit shocked of 'how good' Thorpe was.....I can see a big investment for next year 2+ rides.

To be fair, when I first visited Oakwood back in the late 90s it was probably on a par with Thorpe at the time, and ahead in terms of coasters.  Oakwood's investment since has been moderate, but few could have predicted how far Thorpe have come in the past 15 years.

Oakwood was screwed over from the H&S incident.. though they were to blame.

Hopefully debt has been reduced enough to afford investment.

Its now midway through the year of 2012 and still no hype or news of a new attraction at the park.. fair enough painting it and stuff.

I believe the park has lost its way, it had a steady growth leading up to speed and to be honest has never improved on it, now visitor numbers have dropped rather than draw in the punters they simply shut the park down and only open it at peak times.

My opinion is get the second woody in and advertise it like other parks do as early as possible with viral ads on the internet.
