By what i could see it was going in between the go kart track and where the flying chairs and paratrooper, though im not sure what is going to happen with those 2 rides as they are still on site as can be seen in some of the pictures.

Yes the water channels are quite big i have a photo of me standing next to 2 channels on top of each other and im 6ft so they are about 3ft high each and they are wide as well 2 people could probably sit side to side.

I'm wondering whether it might not be a log flume?

There was a planning application in December 2004 for a Log Flume which was approved. One of the planning stipulations was that it had to be constructed within 5 years and that tree/bush planting had to be done prior to the ride being constructed.... Maybe the reason for the delay?

Details here.

Key parts of document are
5. OFFICERS REPORT

Description

A new ride, a Log Flume, is proposed to the west of the small boating lake at Wicksteed Park. It is set within grassland, at one of the lowest points within the complex; a natural dip in the park.

The ride is a steel frame rising to 11.5 metres, with a length of about 77 metres following an irregular track. The track meanders through banked earth and rock structures. Riders, sitting in boats with the appearance of logs, drop into a water-filled splash area. Riders will access the ride through a wooden cabin. Details of this cabin and a smaller control cabin remain to be submitted.

It is definatly a logflume members of staff at the park that confirmed that it was a logflume being built there.

What I am saying is that it may not be a log flume as in 4 riders in a log behind one another. The channel is very very wide for a log flume ride.

Looking good, although it's not very big. Hopefully some themeing will be added around the actual drop to cover the supports. Look's like it could be ready soon too. :D

I love how American enthusiasts wouldn't bat an eyelid if a ride this small opened there but we have so few new rides each year this becomes a major talking point :P
cubwolf

I have just interviewed the MD of Wicksteed on my radio show and he said there a couple of suprises on this ride that you will only find by riding it??
It opens Saturday :)
