I wonder if any of this construction is compromising the structural integrity of the oblivion tunnel..
.. just food for though.

I believe the tunnel was made with MRC, so it should stand up nicely to ground movement although the ground works are at a safe enough distance from the tunnel.

he just means in the headline sense of "we thought everything was ok but whoops, it actually wasn't".

In any case it doesn't look like it would collapse because in the documentary "the magic factory" you can see its full of re-bar but only a civil engineer could really tell you !

Looks like the contruction walls were expanded as some of the paving was coming apart due to the land movement from the large hole.

I have to say, even though this will be a relatively quick build, I am slightly surprised that we are into September and no sign of any footers!  But at least in true AT ride construction tradition, we have a bloody great big hole in the ground to speculate upon!

Firstly - Something that I didn't get photos of, as we sped up the Alton hill we passed an awe-full lot of building stuff by the X-Sector road entrance.

OK photos from this afternoon
Not much happening on the road behind X Sector

From the toilets:

Zooming in on that metal (the stuff that usually lines deep holes)..

Looking down towards Enterprise

Looking towards the old entrance to Black Hole we see a couple of banners that are interesting, some interesting yellow tape and some metal work that was, I believe, used to hold the bridge entrance up.
Image
View of the rebar that has appeared near the top. Oddly enough we couldn't see any holes that they would fit in.

View from the bottom gate

I'm sure just joining these two pipes would be more accurate

Usual overview

Power cables being dug up on the lawn in front of the towers.

Wow that hole is getting deeper and bigger! However I expect the pace of construction now to pick up in time for Scarefest! Role on October! :D
