I really think this will have a 'eurofighter' theme to it - as in it will be themed as two fighter jets attacking something sinister. Like a nuclear weapons factory or something. Whatever the large themeing object is will be attacked
How would that fit in with the X-Sector theme?
Unless they re-themed the X-Sector into China? :P
I used to think I knew a lot about coasters, but then I joined this forum.

Who says that it has to fit in with Xsector as we know it, maybe Xsector could be adapted slightly to fit the theme of the new ride?
Guess we really wont know until themeing plans are released. It just seems fairly plausible with a dueling ride.
In a way i hope not, i am getting a bit sick of the same old 'sinister discovery' type story by Merlin. I.e. Th13teen, The Swarm, X-Raptor. All have great themeing but something fresh ideas are needed. Saying that, if it works why not use it i guess

By some sort of swarm maybe ? ......Ok i'll shut up

Actually yes Merlin seem a little obsessed with this type of theme!
Im almost certain it wont be swarm themed, although it could be war, military themed. Oblivion has this kinda futuristic, military research base theme to it, so yeah I'd assume its along those lines.
The planning committee doesn't seem to next be meeting until the 15th of March though, so I'm not too sure if we will have a decision next week. (This month's meeting was meant to be today but it was cancelled due to insufficient business)
To be honest i just hope that the theme is somthing like; the residual power of the black hole has been harnessed (Middle themeing thing) and you are thrown into its awesome force. The way the cars look set to duel almost looks like there in a sort of Orbit almost.

Doesn't really bother me who builds it, as I can see it being good whichever way it goes.
Some people do think it will matter though. Personally, I think it's an exciting development, but likely to be poor in terms of ride quality (it may not be, but I prefer a pleasant surprise to abject disappointment).
1. For some, if it is Intamin like the bastard love child of Kanonen and Fahrenheit - it's a sure fire hit.
2. Maurer appeals to others, because it's a best fit for those not wanting a Gerstlauer. People fear Gerstlauer. Maurer are quite hit and miss in terms of final product (not always their fault). When they're good, they very good. When they're not? Troublesome at the very least.
3. The ride fits a Gerstlauer profile, but because of poor experiences with Eurofighters, people don't want it. There are good examples of Eurofighters though, but they're seemingly less frequent than good MS coasters.
Having experienced some and read reviews of others, none of those options is likely to produce a world class ride experience. That's not saying it's going to be a bad ride, and it's certainly an exciting design and incredible development coup for Alton. It just people seem to want it to be more than it is, people want it to be what they want is a lesser of the evils. As always, people expect it to deliver the world's greatest ride experience and be mind blowing. All these people will be deeply saddened when it doesn't satisfy them.
You're right though, it'll be quite some time before the question is answered. Lots of time yet for people to build their hopes so high that nothing less than an utter obliteration of them can be achieved by the ride on opening day. Welcome to coaster enthusiasm

^ So he's saying no matter which of the three options is true, it won't be a world class ride? ^
Sounds like someone's being a complete and utter pessimist to me!
There are examples of good and bad rides for all manufacturers, this does not mean SW7 will be a disappointment. The argument is far too one-sided to hold any weight at all.
Looking at the ride layout and No Limits recreation for SW7 shows you we're in for one hell of a ride experience.
It really does make me wonder what some enthusiasts actually need before they're satisfied.

Oh my Jesus! The theming seems to be brilliant, even though I have no idea what it is! Looks like a robot/War of the Worlds alien to me, and judging from the bricked in windows of the station, it appears to be a kind of destruction themed ride - a little similar to Swarm perhaps? Merlin will sure have experience in this theme from Swarm so hopefully they'll really excel in theming the ride. This has made my night!

Wow - the theming looks pretty good! Slightly disappointed that Element C is just a surveillance van, but it could turn out to be a pretty good one. Element A, though, really does look great. *faps*
Appears to be a mish-mash of The SWARM and SAW, and although I'm sure they can make it look good, I do think that it lacks a bit of creativity.
That said, the Spider-Robot thing looks awesome, seems like they're intent on the 'machines' theme from a few years back, which is in no way a bad thing!
