As Th13teen celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, let's take a look back at the construction process of SW6 at Alton Towers

Marketed at the time as the "Ultimate Rollercoaster", construction started in 2009 after the removal of the iconic Corkscrew, which closed at the end of the previous year. Over the course of the season, the station, lift hill and outdoor section of the track were put in place, leaving guests wondering what would make this Secret Weapon ride so special.
When did you first ride Th13teen?

Journey beyond and board Galactica.

In July 2015, applications were submitted to modify Air's existing station and queue line, along with the addition of a themed portal that the coaster would travel through. The inclusion of VR would last until the 2019 season when it was removed due to declining popularity.

Do you prefer the Galactica theme, or the original?

All aboard and take a ride on the Runaway Mine Train!

Opening in March 1992, this MACK powered coaster offers families a journey into the heart of Katanga Canyon over the pathways of the area, to the tunnel running parallel with the Congo River Rapids. This family coaster still remains a firm favourite at the resort and one of the most iconic with phrase heard by the ride operator "Choo, Choo!"

Do you still enjoy a ride on the Runaway Mine Train?

This week we’re taking a look back at Bravo!

Performing only for the 2013 season, the Bravo Show entertained guests at Alton Towers with jazzy interpretations of cheesy tunes and modern classics. The show was led by a crazy conductor, who frequently engaged with the audience, creating one of the most captivating and chaotic shows in recent times.

Would you like to see more entertainment across the Resort?

Prepare for a ride on The Blade!

Opening in 1980, this swinging boat ride still stands as the oldest attraction at Alton Towers. Originally located in Fantasy World (now X Sector), it can now be found in Forbidden Valley situated on the old Thunder Looper site. During the 2018/19 closed season, the ride received an extensive overhaul along with a new fresh look for the 2019 season.

With The Blade set to return for the 2020 season, do you still enjoy this classic flat ride?

Prepare for the wettest challenge around with Battle Galleons!

Opening in 2008 alongside the re-themed area of Mutiny Bay, this MACK Rides splash battle invites guests to fight fellow pirates and landlubbers alike in a seriously wet war. Those brave enough to battle must first survive the treacherous queue line filled with multiple soaking points before taking to the sea and battling with their fellow pirate.

Are you brave enough to ride Battle Galleons on a hot summer's day at Alton Towers?

Can you handle Enterprise?

First opening in 1984 at the Resort, Enterprise takes guests on a gravity defying ride of being spun head over heels. Those brave enough are subjected to being hurled upside down at dizzying speeds in a test of endurance.

Do you take time to ride Enterprise whilst visiting Alton Towers?

In 1981, guests visiting Alton Towers could take a terrifying tour through Doom & Sons, the Resort's own petrifying funeral parlour.

Being a macabre mixture of interactive scares and ghoulish gags, the walkthrough experience played out like a fearful funhouse, creepily complementing neighbouring dark-ride, Around the World in 80 Days. After a decade of frights, the attraction closed in favour of the new Haunted House on the other side of the park.

Did you get to explore the devilish delights of Doom & Sons?

For this weeks #ThrowbackThursday , we're taking a look back at Captain Henry's Gold: An Adventure on Ice.

Staged in Safeway Farm, audiences were invited to witness a spectacular show of dance, mystery and music, performed by a troupe of superb skaters and park mascots, based around Henry Hound retrieving his gold from The Count. The crew first set sail in 1992, before abandoning ship just a year later when Henry Hound retired.

Do you have any fond memories of this fabulously fun show?

Originally opening as the world's longest log flume, and later sailing past model dinosaurs, The Flume was one of @Alton Towers' most popular attractions. In 2004, the ride was re-imagined as a funky, floaty bath time ride featuring quirky, quacking ducks, culminating in a spectacular splashdown over the lake. The snug bathtubs would last be filled in October 2015, before later being replaced by Wicker Man in 2018.

Did you get to experience this cheeky ride?

It's the hottest day of the year so far today, with temperatures peaking around 30 degrees.

Who else wishes they could cool off on the Congo River Rapids? Not long to go now!
