I hope so. It does look like they have painted around the joins, but I am really hoping they don't add the rust effects which have been rumored. I really can't see this personally myself though as I believe they are beyond that stage!

The station is also getting a refurb.

Whether they add the rust effects or not it's nice to see the beast finally getting some attention!

On the topic of the supports one of them up at the top of the lift got a red highlight painted fresh on yesterday, stood watching it from the car park road fence. Where the station is concerned I can only express a giant YES! And that I can't wait to see this looking like it's gone back to 1994. Some observations just made amongst myself and the Virtual Towers team is that there appears to be a lack of weeds around the fencing, and the path appears to have been cleaned too, as you can see a lot of dirt swept up on the left edge of the photo.

It certainly is, Dan.N!

The picture from Alton's TLC Twitter page (posted above by dazza4783) looks great!
It is really surprising what a lick of paint can do! I'm really excited to see how different it looks when i'm up next!

Wow the track looks brand new. Doubt it will stay that pristine for long into open season though ;)

I'm glad that I will be visiting at the very start of the season this year unlike previous years so that I get to see it before it starts to get a bit dirty again! When I first saw that Nemmy was getting repainted I hoped they wouldn't leave it white, but I've warmed to the idea and now I actually want it to be white with the black (and red joints) like in the photo!

I think it would be nice to have it slightly different. By leaving the track white, this would be achieved.

This is a great start to the TLC program and if it continues in the same fashion then we are in for some great improvements! Hopefully, with the Frog Hopper building being repainted as well, we have the beginnings of a CCL refurb too!

I just hope a smiler repaint is going to happen next closed season. Gives a better first impression to those who haven't rode before and are nervous due to the incident and all.

Both Nemmy and Air....sorry: Galactica, are looking fantastic, though I agree that it would be nice to give The Smiler a once over too....still the work they've done is fantastic, I love how the station is coming along so Towers Loving Care gets a big thumbs up.

In another update from the @AltonTLC Twitter feed, it's been revealed that the Nemesis repaint is costing £120k and that:
The track has been shotblast to base metal & inspected, before layers of specialist paint.

Wow, that sounds pretty expensive! I guess it shows if they're spending a fair bit on it though the job will be done properly so it doesn't require doing for a good few years after :D

That's not a bad price to spruce up a 22 year old ride, can't wait to see her in her new sparkly rusty togs :D

I must agree. I said to some that the price seemed very reasonable.

Nemesis seems to be getting a lot of attention. Through Neme21s' semi repaint (bolts, inside of station) and this year's track repaint, the ride will be returned to its former glory. However, it's left me wondering if Nemmy's trains will receive anything beyond routine maintenance.

I believe there's several reasons why Nemesis has never has much of a queue. Of course its capacity and the fact Nemesis runs pretty well are large factor, but I think the roughness puts off some potential riders along with the rusted appearance. I visited with a friend who looked at the ride and though it looked "a tad too vicious for her" despite riding everything else earlier. So, what does everyone else think? Could the trains get a spruce up too?

I'd certainly hope the restraints are replaced or repaired. They looked awful when I went at Scarefest. They were dirty, had scrapes all over them and some of the seat belts had seen better days :D

It's a good question, I think they'll be included in the refresh, they're heavily maintained anyway so just revitalising the theming shouldn't be too much of an issue.

It is an extreme ride, that first inversion has stresses not available on any other ride and it can take your breath away if you're not prepared for it plus the whole thing is intimidating to onlookers so I'm not surprised it can seem a bit much.
At scarefest one of our number was shaken up by AIR (she'd just eaten, it had been a long day and spending all that time pressing on her stomach wasn't the best idea) I wanted to reride Nemmy on the back row but just the thought for her was almost enough to bring everything back up. So it's known for being a tough ride.
