This seems like a good excuse to plug the Garden Conservatory page in our new Restoration Archive section, which features a few updates on the restoration works from throughout the 2017 season :P

Towers Loving Care has posted a TLC update...
Towers Loving Care wrote: What a pane!
Guess how many pieces of glass were removed, cleaned and replaced? Around 11,500,  so many in fact that we had to bring in additional glaziers locally from Stoke on Trent and also Wolverhampton who could undertake the specialised work as the glass is all held in with a type of putty - unlike modern windows which are uPVC and silicon. Much of the original glass was actually replaced in the late 1970's and early 80's with only a few pieces from the 19th century remaining. To spot the oldest pieces of glass look for the glass which has a slight distortion to it. Not only was each piece of glass painstakingly removed but also all the wooden surrounds of the windows and the French doors had to be removed and sent to a workshop in Ludlow in Shropshire to be hand cleaned, repaired or replaced, primed and painted ready for re-installation. Even though much of it was damaged you certainly wouldn't know it today! What do you think of the work thats been done?

(Sorry for the double post!)

Another interesting update from TowersStreet, the entrance plaza is having new concrete barriers and bollards installed. I just hope they do something with the concrete blocks as they look absolutely horrible, but obviously they need to take these precautions after all the recent terror attacks in the UK and Europe.

Latest update from @AltonTLC, more repainted facades on Towers Street!
ImageI must say, looking brilliant! :)

Also, Alton Towers have confirmed on Facebook that all the Towers Street facade repaints will be completed during this closed season!

I for one can't wait to see the whole street all finished! :)

Great to see the building refreshed, adding to the rejuvenated Towers Street. I hope something is done inside as it really did feel neglected at Fireworks.

Interesting note: Is the cherry picture in the image from down at The Smiler? It is black with yellow wheels just like The Smiler's one.

It's good to see the TLC on Nemesis finally getting finished! I just hope that after this they continue to maintain it so it doesn't get in to such a bad state again.

Looking good though! :)

Looks amazing! As long as they carry on maintaining it it'll look fantastic! It's good to see that they've learnt from the mistake of chucking a tin of red paint all over the station.

I would still like to see some more detail on the track though like the original paint job like splats of blood and other marks on it.

Good to see all the TLC over the closed season, especially the Nemesis monster and the conservatory as I'm a fan of the historical parts of AT and I like to see they are being considered too :)

Much nicer than a light-blocking and probably rainy (because UK) view of Cbeebies land hotel!

The latest update from the Towers Loving Care Facebook page shows the work currently taking place on the admissions plaza.
Tickets please, tickets please! Our Admissions plaza which was built in the 1980s is having a wonderful TLC makeover. Phase one involves the removal of the old ticket kiosks!

Wow I wonder what they're gonna put in to replace them? I personally think they might just have a bit where you pay at the turnstiles.

Would make sense I guess. To save money hiring additional people to sit in the booths all day just have machines.
