NV has said on TV today that they are working towards opening AT in the next few days as well as having all the multi-cars rides upgraded and staff trained within the next couple of days. So I can't see why Spinball will not be open when the park dose.Themeparksandy1981 wrote:Do u think Sonic Spinball will reopen when the park does as that too has multi-cars on the track at the same time. Chessington really can't cope with just the Vampire open as the only coaster available at the park.

It is literally just something I heard, cant remember where.

Kay Burley is a really vile person. Her only goal in that interview was to bait a headline quote out of him at the expense of finding out any potential new information. I hate gotcha journalism.
Pressing him to reveal information about people in hospital was sickening. It's a fair question to ask once, when you're told they can't answer out of respect for privacy, you leave it be.
Incredibly smooth conduct by Varney, no way could I have kept my cool without either getting angry, sweating like a pig and/or saying something stupid. Certainly earns his wages.

Yet then proceeds to reply to comments with a photo..I worked all over the park, and I don’t want to give any further identifying details because I don’t want to get sued

I personally think Nick Varney is a muppet but listening to his press chat with the BBC I am changing my mind.
"they will want for nothing" .....

Definitely seems that the BBC Interview is much easier for him, with Sky more of a dress rehearsal :lol .
Kay Burley is a disgrace, she clearly is just trying to slander Merlin as much as possible and squeeze a headline out of him. Sadly, she got one... "Alton Towers Boss: Safety Not Adequate"

It's best just to stick with the BBC when it comes to incidents like this. The news is slower but its far more easy to digest and way more fairly presented.
Just think yourself lucky we're not in America, Fox news would have somehow blamed this on the gays and pro-abortionists by now if they were given the chance.

I love how people *well, the media.. are slating Alton Towers for taking 11 minutes to call 999... Which given the gravity of the situation and the sheer size of the catastrophe is actually a good response time... BUT are saying NOTHING about the circa 2000 people that were happy to stand and watch this all unfold without themselves calling 999... I mean, seriously, did it not occur to A SINGLE ONE OF THEM to call 999? At least 5 of them had their pone in their hand FILMING it! What is wrong with people!?

Sky news are clearly on a witch hunt, that headline is misleading to say tthe least. I don't usually cheapen myself to saying this however, they are scum.

I loved that line she spouted, made me wonder if she realised she was the one giving a statement?Evostance wrote:"If I could just interrupt as it's an interview, not a statement"
What the hell? Perhaps i'll use that in every conversation when I fancy interrupting someone..
What she means to say is "Can I just stop you answering that question as I forgot what I asked."

As has been mentioned before, this interview was totally bias, had irrelevant questions and really showed Kay Burley's ignorance when it comes to most issues.
If you feel strongly about it, take 5 minutes out of your day to complain to Ofcom - link below.

The BBC were clearly less biased than Sky although I did think the way they led with the story along with a headline of "more roller coasters shut down" it does make it sound like Ebola spreading! Haha!

30 Accidents reported in 3 years for somewhere that get as much of the general public in and has as many staff as Alton towers does sounds low to me.Baggie79 wrote:http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/mi ... ee-9397443

10 Accidents a year for a park that regularly has 15,000 guests a day, can't really see why Birmingham Mail think that's an unacceptable number...tgm999 wrote:30 Accidents reported in 3 years for somewhere that get as much of the general public in and has as many staff as Alton towers does sounds low to me.Baggie79 wrote:http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/mi ... ee-9397443
