It's simple, what's your favourite park area?

Mine's the Dark Forest, I really don't know why, its one of the worst themed areas of the park and it only has two rides, but I just have a soft spot for it :?
I used to think I knew a lot about coasters, but then I joined this forum.

It has to be Forbidden Valley!

Brilliantly themed. Always has a great atmosphere! Has some of the best attractions on the park. Oh and of course it has the wonderful Nemmy!

It's a heated tie between Katanga and FV. Both have great 90's nostalgia and are still beautifully themed and placed for the land available. FV may just edge it for it's recent attention and less ruined by game stalls, but for family and thrill area, these two clearly lead it for me.

These two areas are staples to the park and are to be around for some more time for sure.

Katanga.

Struggles to boast the best ride line-up in the park, but it by far and away offers the best atmosphere, landscaping and perhaps even theming? It also boasts two of the most underrated rides at Alton Towers, and which I consider to be staple attractions in any day out at the park. People doubting the eternal presence of the 'magic' needn't look any further than Katanga Canyon, in my view.

In terms of rides alone, Forbidden Valley would be my favourite area.

Forbidden Valley. :D I love the theme of it, the whole idea, the Nemesis legend. It's basic comic book stuff, but it's the only area that has it.... and then they plonked Air down at the bottom. :P

I used to love UgLand when Rita and Corkscrew overlapped residencies... TRRR always gave it a carnival-esque feel for me, I have very fond memories of blazing hot days in a long Rita queueline, loving the songs on the radio, all of us singing along. Rita's queue was always notorious for being one of the worst in the park (not just in terms of length, but theming-less and lots of cattle pens), but actually I used to love it when the Radio was there. :) Now it's just depressing, like-a-Gloomy-Wood-but-just-a-boring-Dark-Forest instead. :(

I also used to love the overlap of Rita and Ug land (Corkie wasn't there when I went) and my fond Rita memories are from UG land and TRRR.

Has to be the gardens, absolutely stunning and no matter how many times you walk around them , you spot things you havent seen before.  My fave spot is at the top end of the gardens near the statue looking down across the "canal" from the bench at the very top.  Cant beat a view like that on a summers day.

I love exploring both the Towers and Gardens, but I voted FV for being home to a certain world class, well themed and crazily intense B&M. :)

Plus Nemesis is there too!

For me, it's easily Old McDonald's Farmyard. The best themed area in the park, and it really feels like you've escaped from the rest of the park! The contrast between themeless Air and the rest of Forbidden Valley rules it out for me I'm afraid.

I quite like Forbidden Valley, i'd be quite content just to sit and listen to Nemmy for most of the day, sad I know, but aren't we all? :P

I do like Forbidden Valley, but I have a real bad soft spot for Dark forest.
I know that I only has 2 rides in the area, but Rita is my favourite ride in the park and Thi3teen is a good solid ride aswell. I always find myself spending the first hour of the day in that area and the last hour of the day aswell.

Katanga, the theme is incredible there and reminds me of some European parks on hot days, unfortunately the rest of the park doesn't feel like it used to in that respect anymore.

I really miss UG Land too though, to me the dark forest just feels like another downbeat dark gloomy area that's not the upbeat fun former self it was with UG Land.

I too love Katanga Canyon - but is it really as well themed as people make out? I don't think so. The RMT's facade is rotting and that restaurant was stripped of its theming when it became Explorer's.

What makes it special is all the grennery, the lake and the interaction of the two rides with the landscape.

I thought of putting Dark Forest. It seems to have an atmosphere I like. Then I remembered Nemesis so it's Forbidden Valley for me.

I voted for X-Sector. It gives me that strange feeling I don't get when I'm in other areas of the park. Not to mention Blivvy's There!

For me it's got to be Forbidden Valley. When you first enter the area you see the Nemesis gun which looks really good. The music is my favorite music at Alton Towers and creates an amazing atmosphere. When you go under the Nemesis archway and see Nemesis I think thats the best view on the park and seeing Nemesis go through the helix you can feel the rush of air if your close enough. In my opinion it's the best themed area on the park.

Gardens. I've actually been to Alton Towers before for the day and not been on any rides at all. I can't be bothered queuing in the summer if it's busy  :)

My favourite area with rides is probably Kantanga. I like the farm because of the animals, but don't go on any of the rides there.

Got to be forbidden valley for me, its the area that always sticks in my mind from when i was a young kid, seeing the nemesis sign with the famous music playing, thunder looper and the beast in the distance, running up to the nemesis fence and hearing that roar and feeling the wind bashing off your face as it wizzed past! Even tried to sneek on the first time as i was too small (never worked) i can safely say that it was the forbidden valley that planted that seed that made me come back again and again!

Very difficult one, I voted Forbidden Valley a couple of days back but I think I've changed my mind. My favourite place to be on-park is the very edge of Katanga - where the path from GW curves around behind the RMT and over the Rapids. It's just a nice place to be, the theming is excellent and you feel like you are in a completely different place to the rest of the park. The music in that area is also one of my favourite - love the tribal feel it creates with the African style percussion.

1. Katanga Canyon (as voted) - absolutely love this theme and the area is beautiful, I wish they'd expand it a little and add some more theming. Oh, and ditch that game stall so we can see more of the lovely RMT facade. I'm longing for the return of the Katanga Canyon theme (at the pond) and also the original jungle walk music. Be nice to see a clean up of the Jeep as well, its looking a bit shabby these days. The interaction between RMT and The Rapids in the tunnel really adds some fun to both rides. Always loved the shop that you exit into from both rides as well.

2. Gloomy Wood - love the atmosphere but I think I'm probably basing that on the pre-Duel (Haunted House) era. It's still great as it is now, especially with the expansion into the Haunted Hollow.

3. Forbidden Valley - pretty much for the same reasons everyone else mentioned, although I feel its being left to rot a little. The Nemesis area music needs a tune up/fix to get things back to the way it was. I love the atmosphere around Ripsaw. Standing watching everyone get soaked on hot days. Most hated part of FB has to be that Fish & Chips place, bring back the Nemmy Nosh and some of the other vechicals.
