Well, around this time last year, we were begging to find out what the 2011 map would look like. Many of us were thrilled with the artistic style of the map, but many were unhappy about the clutter and not very usable map.
So whats the plan for this year do you think? Do they keep the 2011 map & make ajustments to make it clearer & less cluttered? Will they create an entire new map or go back to the 2008 - 2010 maps? Or will they leave it as it is?
We must however bear in mind though, that " Nemesis Sub Terra " & the ice age 4D cinema must be added to it. But will they manage to fit them on the current map?
So what are your hopes & expectations for the 2012 map & marketing?
2012 Map & Marketing
I predict they will reuse last year's god awful excuse for a map, with a sticker over X Sector saying "Move along, nothing to see here." There will be another sticker that covers the whole of FV with meaningless pap regarding N:ST, that tells you nothing about the ride, while completely obscuring Nemesis, Blade, Ripsaw and Air (and probably Duel as well). Finally, the hole in one game and mini golf course will be enlarged, because lets be honest, the real reason people go to AT is to play golf.

Last year's map was terrible as a map. Beautiful as a poster, but terrible as a map.
I hope they start afresh, given such a huge amount is changing in the park this year. Obviously IA:4D, N:ST, the removal of Submission and Enterprise from the map, and the "new coaster coming soon!" graphic over the Black Hole tent. I imagine they'll increase the prominence of Nemesis the coaster for marketing reasons too.

I would love to see the return of the maps used around 02ish, the non-cluttered ones that were pretty professional but neat and cool at the same time - some of the rides look really realistic, especially the flats!
I haven't really liked any of the maps since - too cartoonish or too much going on IMO!

I would have no issue with the 2011 map returning, but altered.
As much as people on here moan about it's lack of functionality, I didn't see hoards of people wandering aimlessley in the gardens last season and there are plenty of "YOU ARE HERE" boards around the park anyway!

I'm pretty sure they will use last years map, and just add and remove a few new graphics to show the 2012's new attractions, and removals. Last years map did grow on me, so I certainly don't mind if they use it for one more season.
I'd rather them recycle last years map this year, and have a brand new look to support SW7 in 2013, and I' pretty sure that's what they'll do. I'm pretty sure this years style and graphic design is pretty new anyways?

They'll probably just use the 2011 map, shunt X Sector up abit, so Submission and Enterprise aren't visible.
This then leaves some space for N:ST, without blocking the other attractions.
Ice Age can just be put over the theatre, there is enough space there.

I do think the 2011 map is very hard to navigate for people who know nothing about the location of rides.... For example the friends I went with on a school trip. I have a massive argument with some numpties about how to get to nemmy...

I really hope we see 2013 banners up in X Sector immediately.
It's one way to get the excitement flowing!
They could also replace the Fanta logo on top of Rehydrator with a SW7-2013 sign!

With the attention to detail with the nemesis backstory/cartoon in play i feel/hope that they make the new map a little more inspiring,We need to go back to the magic, 2001 map im thinking maybe even 1998, let the nemmie beast be shown in full glory, oblivion looking technical and duel looking creepy, then i think for SubTerra have the builing on the map and a tencticle burst out of the ground holding the SubTerra(Bubble Logo) and the eye in a nother broken bit of ground, Simple and effective. Then for IceAge the theatre covered in ice and that wierd nut loving thing with 3d glasses then for sw7 a fenced area full of smoke,a crane and some track with the captions, world first SW7:2013 and theres my ideas.

When the skyride was closed it highlighted how poor the maps are as people entered the gardens thinking they were s,all with a few clearly signed paths and then ended up Getty totally lost. It ended up ride staff had to be sent into the gardens in order to guide guests, I think this is pretty good proof of how useless the maps are.
I love them as a picture to look at but find them absolutely useless as an actual map to find things on!

Last year's map was a mess but beautiful to look at the same time, hopefully it won't be as cluttered.

Last years map was fun to look at but was a bloody awful map. Let's face it, air looked like it was practically next to Th13teen rather than on the other side of a valley...
The series of maps used before last years functioned well as maps AND looked nice - maybe a combo of both is in order.

I know what you mean about the rides looking, well, cheap!
Oblivion looked liked vekomas own take on the dive machine, and air looked mighty awful, not to me room badly placed..

Perfect example on how to fit everything onto a map...
