Same show!? Its nothing like last year, even the ending with the same music is different!
I second this, I didn't attend last year, but I watched it all online, and you're right. It was nothing like last year, other than there being no theme!

I've only watched online but I love the medley soundtrack and the Mountain King finale.

Maybe because I like the chart music and it was my first year but the fireworks were amazing like breathtaking me and my family had a very similar comment "wow" it was perfect timings no misfires only down side was being turned away at KFC as they only had popcorn chicken left also the crowd control wasn't the best but they did alright also a steward actually smoking a spliff while monitoring the crowd was another low point but these downsides aside amazing way to end the season BRING ON 2012

Been to Sat and Sunday shows both were awesome. Crowd control poor on Sat as said. We couldn't move anywhere towards MB for quite a while not sure what was going on there as these areas aren't in the fall out zone. Loved the vast array of music and the ITHOMK Finale. Was great to get a few night rides in. Including 2nd to last ride of 2011 season on Nemesis (I persume that was TTF peeps singing / dancing around me and my dad when we entered the main queue lol) did have a quick look to see if I could reckonise anyone but bwasn't sure though I think I saw Dean in Towers Trading bout Five to ten? Anyway Thanks for another great season Alton Towers. Counting down to 2012 season now yay!:D
Oh ye I was on the Last Daisy Train of the 2011 season (the operator was a great laugh on the trains pa system)
Can't wait for 4D Cinema in 2012:D
Whatever the weather outside it\'s always tropical at Cariba Creek

I would just like to congratulate Alton Towers and the Staff on a huge improvement of the crowd management over last years Fireworks event.

There was a massive visible security presence this year and much better set out routes back to the car park too. There were the odd stupid people who pushed through barriers to walk into the paths of cars but the security seemed to keep most in check and everyone behind barriers.

It took us 15 mins to leave the car park this year compared to the 2 and a half hours the year before, simply due to the stewards and security keeping control.

It was also a great idea to move the pickup point instead of having people coming in the main entrance, doing U turns and blocking traffic with kids running around in the roads, like it was last year.

So overall, congrats on keeping everyone moving!

As for the fireworks, good as usual but lacked any sort of story. Just seemed to be the same as last year but without the whole 30 years celebration bit. Always found that whoever mixed the music cut to the next track just as the previous track was about to climax. Also dead spots inbetween ruined the flow with 10+ seconds of silence and nothing going on.

I would like to add to the praise for the operational side of things. The car parking, traffic and crowd management and general operations were excellent through the weekend.

I would ask that perhaps Alton extend the ride close on the Saturday next year to 9.30 or 10.00. Such closes have happened in the past and given how busy the park was on Saturday, this would have further eased the crowds and allowed more time for rides as the dark forest and x sector were open for only one hour after the show.

All in all, brilliant work - scarefest and fireworks have given a marvellous end to an otherwise dull 2011 season.

Bring on 2012!

I went yesterday never having been to a Towers display and with little by way of expectations and I was absolutely blown away. A fantastic show I thought and an amazing evening. They lose points however for using the Glee version of Don't Stop Believing although the key change in that version worked well.

Just going to add a few quick thoughts to the mix...

Firstly the display this year is their best yet, i know some people miss the story based fireworks displays but quite frankly they used to be pants when it came to actual firework volume. When you look at the likes of Electric Towers which i thought was terrible a story based approach does not always make a great show.

The fireworks where non-stop, awe inspiring and just plain fun. Both nights i saw it the crowds where really getting into the buzz and the park was really atmospheric. I was on park with people who have been to floridian disney shows and they all said this was better.

Also big congrats to towers for parking management. A few sources have said 27,000 were on park saturday and it was certainly the busiest i have seen it in many years and it only took us 15 min to get out.

In conclusion the towers looked magical, the show was great and the management fantastic. There has been a lot of often deserved criticism of Towers this year but i cant find much to criticise about fireworks

It was absolutely bloody excellent!!

I marginally preferred last year's show, but when they were both of such high quality, who really cares? I think I just liked the cheesy time machine bit and the Th13teen bit was AWESOME.

But it did seem like there were more fireworks this year! And it was great getting Peter Dickson in to do the voiceover!

The best bit was Björk's "It's Oh So Quiet", it worked so well. :D

Well done to Alton!

I thought the fireworks this year were one of the best we have ever had, they might not be as good as the late 90's/early 00's but I thought last nights were amazing. The only bad part was the use of Glee following Michael Jackson's 'Billy Jean'. How you can mix those 2 tracks together is beyond me!

It has been a really bad year IMO for the park with little investment, poor Scarefest & parts of the park looking tired but they ended the season on a huge high. Makes me believe that 'the magic' might still be around somewhere.

So again, well done Alton!
Thanks for riding the Runaway Minetrain, we hope you enjoyed your trip. Choo! Choo!

Have to say spent all day sunday in the park it was good as per and not as busy as i thought - ques 60mins for coasters and a lot of walk on for smaller rides which was cool. Fireworks good as per liked 2010 but still a fab display. Also the good news is i spend the night in the hotel on site sunday night and a staff member spoke to me and when i asked if 2012 for the fireworks had already been confirmed his reply was YES and it will be bigger than this year. When i asked who he was he said i was part of the team who worked on the show. So 2 new rides in 2012 and fireworks back again cant wait really!!!

Hi

New member here. I worked on the Jubilee Fireworks crew on the Sunday show. I can confirm that the previous shows had stage effects on the lighting/speaker towers on Friday and Saturday but were removed for Sunday due to public safety perception. Really enjoyed being at Alton again after being there last year and looking forward to 2012.

Can I also add that this is a great forum and I look forward to future posts.

Also if anyone has any video footage of Sat and Sundays shows please post as those nights didn't suffer with smoke as badly as Friday

Cheers and hope you all enjoy our Jubilee Fireworks Displays

Graham :D

I really enjoyed the event, from start to finish, the fireworks as always were fantastic. It was the third Fireworks event I have seen at Towers and still think the original one I watched back in 2006 I think it was, was the best of the lot. I also think the display last season was slightly better than the show this year, mainly due to the music selections, but please don't take this as a negative because I thought the event was brilliant overall and I was quite sad when it ended yesterday.

As much as i agree this years show was great I do miss the story theme to the displays. I hope this will make a return with Nemesis: WLB next year. It would make a great firework/light show with a strong Nemesis back story :)
