Alton Towers just confirmed on Twitter that the Boiler House will not be returning next year.
"We are pleased to announced that after years of Chase the X-Sector police department have captured The Hamble Twins"

I have to say im not disapointed that the boiler house will leave. It was by far the worse maze, and even when I had a "good run" through it, it still lacked anything good and had plenty of empty rooms and blank spaces.

Anybody else slightly shocked that the X-Sector police captured the Hamble Twins, but didn't pay any attention to the disappearances / cannibal clowns NEXT DOOR!?
Shoddy police-work tbh. A more thorough search should have been conducted.

No scarefest related activities visable in XS yesterday. I was wondering why towers didn't use red lighting on Nemesis during Scarefest but then decide to use it during fireworks? Surely it would of been better used for both events?
Whatever the weather outside it\'s always tropical at Cariba Creek

I visited the resort on the 28th and 29th of October as I stayed in the splash landings hotel here is my thoughts on the whole event including reviews on all three of the mazes!
Terror of the Towers (10/10) -
[spoiler:3q1dq24z]This was by far the best attraction of scarefest 2011. The theming was fantastic and all the rooms and the positioning of the actors was fantastic definitely my favourite this year. Although TOTT never disappoints I think Alton really stepped it up this year and have made it one of the best yet! WE went on this both days and it was so terrifying one of my friends...well she couldn’t handle it, she had to be escorted out the first day as she nearly had a panic attack, she tried again the second day but decided before she went under the netting at the beginning that she couldn’t go through with it so she exited again. Me and my other friends however really enjoyed this maze and we're only disappointed that we couldn't stay and go on it again! I really hope this returns next year and is as good if not better (if that is even possible).[/spoiler:3q1dq24z]
Carnival of Screams (8/10) -
[spoiler:3q1dq24z]I thoroughly enjoyed this maze also however I did get the same ambience as last year I'm not sure why? Perhaps it was the positioning of it in the park being in x sector this year, I’m not sure but something was missing. I found in certain parts the mazes was really good and the actors we're fantastic but in other parts it lacked any imagination and simply followed the same pattern as last year! The invisible man’s timing was awful; as we saw him straight away when we went in the room compared to last year when he actually stayed hidden for ages and then revealing himself before we found the exit which was a massive sock. I also though putting the gorilla scene at the beginning was a very poor idea and wasn't thought out very well as the actor telling us to get closer to the cage wasn't convincing at all.[/spoiler:3q1dq24z]
The Boiler House (7/10) -
[spoiler:3q1dq24z]Well, well, well never did I think I would be rating this maze BELOW the carnival of screams! Being as it was my favourite maze of 2012 I was really disappointed this year. I thought the maze lacked imagination and there were too many empty places within it. The theming was really bad and the actors weren’t much better. They needed a lot more actors and I missed all the features from last year such as the shed scene at the begging was far superior to the mask idea they used this year. We went on this maze for a 2nd time on the 2nd day as I just didn’t feel anything the first time and I thought it might have just been me but from experiencing it twice and still feeling the same way I can't say I'm disappointed it's not returning next year based on how poor it was in 2011.[/spoiler:3q1dq24z]
ZOMBIES’ scarezone (6/10) -
[spoiler:3q1dq24z]I liked this and I thought it was a nice edition to the park, not very thrilling I must say however it was never intended to be. I totally agreed with the pumpkin rating of 3 and I would like to see this make a return next year.[/spoiler:3q1dq24z]
Overall review -
I thought the general atmosphere of scarefest this year wasn't quite as magical as last year however I still had a really good time over the two days and especially in TOTT. I enjoyed riding in the dark and Zombies scarezone. Carnival was also quite good however there was room for improvement and boiler unfortunately was a terrible disappointment! I have to say I did prefer the two mazes when they were situated opposite the hotels rather than in x sector as I feel it did not match with the feeling and the fact you have to travel to them when they are by the hotels adds to the atmosphere and clearly shows that they are able to do more things than in the park where they appeared to be restricted for space. My overall rating for scarefest 2011 is 8/10! I look forward to next year’s event!

I think its time we start reflecting on what Alton should be planning for new years scarefest!
I feel the mazes should go back to where they came from, and I also feel there needs to be a Reincarnation Of the field of 1000 screams, however I had an idea for this. Instead of it being Alton village it could be ‘The Alton towers resort camp site’ after spending a week in a caravan I realised, they have great potential to be terrifying things if used properly. This idea in my mind would evolve ‘room 13’ ‘Field of 1000 screams’ and the ‘boiler house’ I personally think there would be scope for it, because it could fit in with what you would expect Alton towers to do, which is offer a caravan and tent site! Only this one would be more run down! (Of course we wouldn’t expect that from Alton towers!)
Next year mainly needs good props, duel live back and better lighting! You can’t arrive by monorail at night to be greeted by spotlights shining into the train from nemesis and air!

I added to the description on youtube about this cos didn't want to be in trouble the door was open and i know when they are closed for some reason they always have the million apologies sign which there were non of, it wasn't until later that day that my friend said he would like a look around so we went back to find a handyman was fixing the door and somebody had broken in that morning apparently so apologies to Alton if ya reading this! We didn't know. Enjoyed going around it all immensely though

I think they should so some sort of asylum which Elsie and Viktor are in and in the opening scene someone should be telling you there story while looking on their cage with them sitting in strait jackets just rocking back and forth then there is a power cut and when they come back on they're gone and then the whole maze is revolved around the asylum they are in i.e. you bump inot other patients who are loopy and also frantic doctors looking for Elsie and Viktor and as you approach the end of the maze they are there and waiting for you!

I could maybe understand your confusion about access to the Towers had you not been a fellow enthusiast but let's be honest, we all know that the Towers are closed at this time of the year regardless of there being signs or not. Ok the door was open but I'd like to think you'd have the common sense to just look through the door and go no further if only for your own safety as you don't know what risks there may have been inside. Consider yourselves lucky you were not caught, it's things like this that give enthusiasts a bad name. I myself would love to walk through the mazes like this however I would not be stupid enough to do it without permission from Towers.

Honestly didn't know they were out of bounds or I'd have been the 1st to say let's not. I know they usually are closed before Scarefest and tbh was surprised to see so much of the stuff still there a week later.
Sorry, didn't mean to offend anybody!

...and also very dangerous. That whole place was a construction site during Fireworks, going through could get you seriously injured, especially if techies had been working in there at the time (which, judging by the fact the door was open, they were). No need to be abusive.torps235 wrote:Oh get a life, its a bit of fun and very interesting.
