For those not visiting Alton today Towers Nerd are once again bringing live updates via Towers Nerd Live: http://live.towersnerd.com/
Few pictures of interest so far.
Half Term map
Big screen in plaza informing people on how to "check in" for the free entry
Half Term leaflet
Seems very organised by Alton. Thanks to Towers Nerd for bringing in the live updates again, I never visit Alton on a opening day so it's nice to see what and what not has changed over the closed season.

Very little will have, as much of the work takes place between February and March. There will be some cosmetic changes to certain rides though.
Although I was never going today anyway, due to work, I am off sick which makes it even worse!

Looking at the photos from towers nerd live, I'm not impressed with how they are displaying prices to make a big deal out of the VAT, I'm not a regular moaner, but thats going too far.
Arrrr Craig sent in this photo of it too:
Shocking, to be honest. I'm not sure if they are trying to achieve a message with this, or just annoy and confuse the hell out of people with it

-New sign for Katanga Canyon Games
-The frogs on Towers Street have received a lick of Green paint
-Nemesis Station has a new floor

Just to make this into one reply, to avoid future confusion.
The new zombies are replacements of the previously falling apart finger zombies.
Hopefully they've replaced the Zombies "Halloween Masks" with something a little less tacky?

I cannot believe it.
Actually I can. I want to. This is real, right? Not, like, one of my weird dreams or anything.
The hand is back? Or at least a hand is back. The original one was in storage at some point, so hopefully it is the actual hand! Even if it doesn't move, it is great. Ah, lovely.
Oh, and, farewell those Halloween mask failurific zombies, they will not be missed. I hope the new props are more convincing...

Sounds like Duel is finally getting the attention it deserves, but I agree The Hand In A Jar is a brilliant addition, here's hoping it's the original [-o<
Maybe, Alton will start adding some small bits from The Haunted House over the course of the season, I can almost feel the nostalgic!

Does anybody who visited today have any images of the hand and the book?
These changes are right up my street!

What book is this? I've only heard people mentioning the hand?

Apparently the book effect that would turn its own pages has also returned/will be returning to the pre-show room. If so, this is excellent news! We'll probably hear more by the end of the day.
My only issues is the bright lighting they have on the hand. And I would prefer it to be in its original location where it is more subtle, but at least there is a hand at all!
